When the leaves start turning in Kentucky, a lot of us start thinking about one thing: pie. Fried apple pies, caramel apple pies, and crumb-topped slices pull families out to orchards and farm stores from Bowling Green to Beattyville.
This list covers seven farm markets where the bakery case is just as much of a draw as the apple trees, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes. Save it for your next fall weekend, because these stops tend to sell out of the good stuff fast.
1. Evans Orchard and Cider Mill, Georgetown, KY

Fried apple pies are the headliner at this Georgetown farm, and plenty of people plan their whole fall Saturday around them. The orchard sits at 1783 Newtown Pike, surrounded by the kind of Central Kentucky farmland that makes a short drive from Lexington feel like a real escape.
The farm store stocks homemade goodies beyond the pies. Look for apple cider donuts, strawberry preserves, kettle corn, popcorn, and apple cider slushies, which make a smart pairing with a warm hand pie.
Fall weekends bring a corn maze, apple picking, and pumpkins, plus farm animals that are happy to pose for photos. Dogs are allowed, so the family pup can tag along.
Hours run 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and noon to 6 PM on Sunday. The farm is closed Mondays, so plan accordingly if you want a weekday trip.
2. Jackson’s Orchard & Nursery, Bowling Green, KY

Sixty years is a long time to keep a family farm going, and the Jackson family has been welcoming visitors to their working orchard for about that long. You will find it at 1280 Slim Island Road on the rural edge of Bowling Green.
The bakery is where pie fans tend to linger. Fried pies, apple pie, donuts, and caramel apples share space with fresh squeezed apple cider and a cold apple cider slush.
I like this stop for its seasonal range. Peaches come in summer, crisp apples arrive later, and a fall Pumpkin Festival turns autumn weekends into a family outing.
The orchard is open mid-April to mid-November. Saturday hours are 9 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday runs 1 to 5 PM.
3. Eckert’s Orchard, Versailles, KY

A 90-foot slide and a three-story tree house are not what most people expect at a pie stop. Eckert’s in Versailles has both, along with a climb called Terry’s Apple Mountain and a gem-mining station.
Pie still gets serious attention here. The caramel apple pie has a reputation strong enough to draw buyers from towns like Clay City, a good hour away.
The country store also carries the farm’s well-known apple cider donuts, local jams, salsas, honey, and kitchen gadgets. Out in the fields, you can pick your own crops and choose pumpkins straight from the patch.
Weekend hours are long. Saturday runs 9 AM to 10 PM, Sunday goes 9 AM to 6 PM, and parking is free.
4. Mulberry Orchard LLC, Shelbyville, KY

Small can be a selling point. Mulberry Orchard keeps things simple on Mulberry Pike in Shelbyville, with apple picking, hayrides, corn mazes, and play areas spread across a family-friendly farm.
Pie lovers should head straight to the farm store. The apple pie and caramel apples are the standouts, and they make an easy take-home treat after an afternoon in the trees.
Fall brings a pumpkin patch, so you can fill a wagon with apples and gourds in one trip. Restrooms and a free parking lot keep the visit low stress.
Saturday hours are 9 AM to 6 PM. Sunday is shorter, 1 to 5 PM, and the farm is closed Mondays.
5. Haney’s Appledale Farm, Nancy, KY

Grandma-style fried apple pies are the calling card along KY-80 in Nancy. Haney’s Appledale Farm brings that old-fashioned bakery tradition to a small community in south-central Kentucky.
The store is large and well stocked. Shelves hold many apple varieties, cider, jams, and jellies, and there is a restaurant and gift shop on site too.
Apples and peaches both come from the orchard, and visitors can head out to pick their own in season. Pair that with a whole apple pie for the drive home and you have a full afternoon.
It makes a natural stop on a Lake Cumberland area road trip. Saturday hours are 9 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday runs 1 to 5 PM.
6. Reid’s Orchard, Owensboro, KY

Fair warning about the caramel-topped pie at Reid’s. It is the kind of dessert that tempts people to finish the whole thing in one sitting.
The orchard sits at 4818 KY-144 in the countryside outside Owensboro. It is a dependable spot in western Kentucky to grab a bag of apples, fresh produce, and some fun gifts.
Early birds will appreciate the hours. The market opens at 8 AM Monday through Saturday and runs until 6 PM, while Sunday hours are 11 AM to 5 PM.
I would save this one for a fall Saturday morning, when you can stock up on seasonal fruit and still have the afternoon free.
7. Elk Hollow Farms Market & Bakery, Beattyville, KY

Apple pie cinnamon rolls might be the most creative bakery item on this list. They come from Elk Hollow Farms Market and Bakery on KY-52 in Beattyville, a small river town in the mountains of eastern Kentucky.
The homemade apple pie earns its own fan base thanks to a generous crumble topping. It is a strong reason to make the trip.
Beyond the bakery, the market sells Kentucky grown, raised, or made products, including meat, seasonal produce, and honey. It is a quick stop, but you can leave with a full grocery bag of local goods.
Timing matters here. The market is open Wednesday through Friday 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 3 PM, with Sundays closed, so plan a Saturday morning visit.
