Cinnamon Rolls As Big As Your Plate Are Waiting At These 6 Arizona Spots

Some cinnamon rolls fit in one hand, and some need a whole table and a few friends. Arizona has a handful of bakeries and cafes that clearly believe bigger is better, from a Route 66 diner in the pines to a bakery in Gilbert’s town square.

A few of these rolls are big enough to split four ways, and one is famous for weighing in at about three pounds. If you love a sweet breakfast, a road trip snack, or a treat to share, this list will point you to the biggest swirls in the state.

1. Pine Country Restaurant, Williams, AZ

Route 66 travelers heading to the Grand Canyon have a sweet reason to stop in Williams. Pine Country Restaurant sits at 107 N Grand Canyon Blvd, right in the middle of this historic mountain town.

The cinnamon roll here is a giant, and it shares the spotlight with a changing lineup of homemade pies. Butterscotch pie gets plenty of attention, so saving room for a slice is a smart plan.

Breakfast covers the comfort classics, with biscuits and gravy, pancakes, Country Fried Steak and Eggs, and Huevos Rancheros. Later in the day, the menu shifts to hearty plates like the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich and Pot Roast Sandwich.

The space works as both a nostalgic cafe and a gift shop, and it is roomy enough for families and groups. Kids get their own menu, and hot chocolate is a favorite on chilly mornings.

Doors open daily from 7 AM to 9 PM. Weekday mornings tend to be the quietest, which makes them a good time to grab a roll before the canyon crowds roll in.

2. Red Rock Cafe, Sedona, AZ

Three pounds. That is the reported weight of the signature cinnamon roll at Red Rock Cafe, and it comes loaded with walnuts and raisins.

Some Phoenix folks make the drive north just for breakfast here, and the roll is a big part of the reason. Sharing is not required, but your stomach might vote for it.

I would save this stop for the morning before a hike. Portions are generous across the menu, with options like Blue Corn Huevos Rancheros, the Red Rock Benedict, Southwest Chicken Fried Steak, and Banana Blueberry Walnut French Toast.

The cafe is at 100 Verde Valley School Rd in the Village of Oak Creek area of Sedona. Outdoor seating is available, and there are full vegetarian and vegan menus for mixed groups.

Plan around the schedule. Red Rock Cafe serves breakfast and lunch from 7 AM to 2 PM Thursday through Monday and closes Tuesday and Wednesday, and it does not take reservations, so Sunday mornings can get busy.

3. Rock Springs Café, Black Canyon City, AZ

Just off the freeway between Phoenix and the high country, a historic roadside cafe has been feeding hungry drivers on the banks of Rock Springs. Rock Springs Café is best known for pie, but its bakery case holds more surprises.

Head to the pie box for takeaway treats. That is where you will find a ginormous cinnamon roll, slices of pie, and monkey bread that is hard to stop eating.

Pie flavors include Apple Crumb, Cherry Crumb, Lemon Meringue, Tennessee Lemon, and Strawberry Rhubarb. If you stay for a meal, the menu leans toward steaks, chicken, sandwiches, and the cafe’s famous calf fries.

The setting adds to the fun. There is a fireplace, mountain views, a quirky gift shop with homemade salsa and fruit butters, and a garden with a natural stone staircase leading down to the springs.

Find it at 35900 Old Black Canyon Hwy, open daily from 7 AM to 8 PM. Dogs are welcome outside.

4. Village Bakehouse, Tucson, AZ

Good news for budget-minded sweet tooths in Tucson: a large cinnamon roll here comes at a fair price. Village Bakehouse is a locally owned bakery and cafe on N Oracle Road, and its giant rolls are a top reason people stop by.

The pastry case goes well beyond cinnamon. Breads, cakes, desserts, and other pastries fill out the lineup, and the prices stay friendly.

Breakfast is a real meal option too. Look for Steve’s Breakfast Burrito, Breakfast Tacos, Raspberry Stuffed French Toast, and a build-your-own omelette, plus sandwiches like the Sonoran Roast Beef.

A patio offers outdoor seating, and curbside pickup makes it easy to grab a box for the office. Free Wi-Fi and an on-site parking lot help with quick visits.

Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 7 AM to 4 PM and Sunday from 8 AM to 2 PM. It is closed Mondays, and weekend mornings are the busiest.

5. Cinnaholic, Gilbert, AZ

Picture a cinnamon roll you get to design yourself, from the frosting to the last topping. That is the whole idea at Cinnaholic in Gilbert.

This bakery chain serves gourmet vegan cinnamon rolls with custom frostings in flavors like vanilla, marshmallow, and cake batter. Pile on toppings, and one massive roll can easily feed two people for around nine dollars.

Not feeling creative? The Old Skool Roll keeps it classic, while the Campfire Smores Roll is a crowd favorite.

There are also Baby Buns, Cinnacakes, Build Your Own Cinnastacks, coffee cake, and mini cookies by the dozen.

The Gilbert shop sits at 1887 E Williams Field Rd. It stays open late, from 10 AM to 9 PM on weekdays, 9 AM to 10 PM on Saturday, and 9 AM to 9 PM on Sunday.

That makes it one of the few spots on this list where a giant roll works as an after-dinner treat.

6. The Great Gadsby Bakery, Gilbert, AZ

Half donut, half cinnamon roll. The maple cinnamon roll at The Great Gadsby Bakery blurs the line between two breakfast favorites, and it is a fun one to try.

This small, family-owned bakery in Gilbert Town Square is known for cinnamon buns with a serious following. In the fall, apple versions show up, so autumn visits come with a bonus.

The case is full of true pastries. Expect croissants, eclairs, European tarts, macarons, red velvet and peanut butter mousse cupcakes, pop-tart style pastries, and savory sausage rolls.

Custom cakes are another specialty, which makes this a handy stop for birthdays. The shop itself is clean and modern.

Timing matters here. The bakery is open only Thursday through Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM at 1030 S Gilbert Town Square Ave, so plan a weekend treat run and pair it with Cinnaholic for a Gilbert cinnamon roll double feature.

From the pines of Williams to the Tucson foothills, Arizona clearly takes its cinnamon rolls seriously. Bring a friend, grab extra napkins, and save this list for your next sweet road trip.
