Georgia’s coast is home to some of the sweetest wild shrimp in the country, and the boats that catch them dock just steps from many local kitchens. That means the shrimp on your plate in Darien, Crescent, Brunswick, or Tybee Island may have come off the water that same week, sometimes that same day.
This list covers seven seafood spots where wild Georgia shrimp is the star, whether it shows up fried, blackened, boiled, or tucked into a bowl of grits. Some sit right on the river, some lean toward a home-style buffet, and a couple put you within walking distance of the Atlantic.
Each one brings something different to the table, from shrimp fleet views to rooftop seating. If you are planning a coastal road trip, a weekend getaway, or just a serious seafood craving, save this list before you gas up the car.
1. Skippers’ Fish Camp, Darien, GA

The menu here actually lists a Fried Georgia Shrimp Dinner by name, which tells you right away where this kitchen’s loyalties lie. Skippers’ sits at 85 Screven St, right on the riverfront in historic Darien.
The building uses reclaimed timbers, giving the dining room a rustic fish camp look with a fireplace for cooler evenings. Outside, the terrace and dock face the river, and that view is a big part of the draw.
Shrimp shows up in several forms, including fried shrimp, blackened shrimp, peel-and-eat shrimp, and shrimp and grits. Raw oysters, crispy flounder, and Brunswick stew round out the coastal side, while ribs and brisket cover anyone who wants something from the smoker side of life.
Portions run large and prices sit around $20 to $30 per person. It is open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM.
Reservations are not accepted, and Friday evenings and Saturdays get busy. I would aim for a weekday visit or an early dinner to snag a terrace seat.
Dogs are welcome outside, and there is a kids’ menu too.
2. B & J’s Steaks & Seafood, Darien, GA

Walk a short way down to the Darien waterfront and you can see the shrimp fleet that supplies kitchens like this one. That close connection is the whole story at B & J’s.
The specialty is extra large, wild-caught Georgia white shrimp, served fried, blackened, or piled into a Fried Shrimp Basket of Fries Dinner. They are big, sweet, and fresh off the boat.
B & J’s is also known for its home-style country buffet, including a seafood buffet and a salad bar. All-you-can-eat snow crab legs with drawn butter make an appearance as well, and surf and turf or a prime rib sandwich cover the steak half of the name.
This is a small, casual, budget-friendly room, with most meals landing between $10 and $30 per person. It feels like the place where locals eat on a regular weeknight.
Plan around the hours. It closes at 3 PM on Monday and Tuesday, stays open until 8 PM Wednesday and Thursday, runs until 9 PM on Friday and Saturday, and is closed Sunday.
Reservations are accepted.
3. The Fish Dock at Pelican Point, Crescent, GA

Fifty feet. That is roughly how far the seafood travels from the boats on the dock to the kitchen at The Fish Dock at Pelican Point.
Getting there is part of the fun. The road out to 1398 Sapelo Ave NE in Crescent winds toward the marshes and tidal waterways north of Darien, and the restaurant sits right on the river.
Fresh fried shrimp is the headliner, but the menu stretches well beyond it. Look for shrimp and grits, whole fried flounder, steamed oysters, crab legs, calamari, and Fish Dock Tacos, plus a hearty buffet.
Deck seating puts you in front of the coastal view, and some nights bring live music. Dogs are allowed, and there is a kids’ menu for younger diners.
It is closed Mondays and opens at 11:30 AM the rest of the week, staying open until 10 PM on Friday and Saturday. Reservations are accepted, which helps on busy Saturday evenings.
4. Rivers Edge Bar and Grill, Darien, GA

Darien’s own shrimping fleet supplies the fried shrimp here, and even picky locals with boat ties rank it among the best in McIntosh County. That is a tough crowd to please.
Rivers Edge sits at 103 Fort King George Dr, a waterfront spot that keeps things simple with fresh local shrimp and hand-cut steaks. Crab balls and crab cakes make a strong opening act.
Prices are among the friendliest on this list, roughly $10 to $20 per person. That makes it an easy pick for families or groups splitting a big order.
The vibe leans casual and lively, with outdoor seating, live music, and TVs for game days. Kids get their own menu, and dogs are welcome outside.
Saturday is the early bird day, opening at 7 AM for breakfast. Otherwise it opens at 11 AM Tuesday through Sunday and is closed Mondays.
5. Mudcat Charlie’s, Brunswick, GA

Despite the name, there is far less mud at Mudcat Charlie’s than you might expect. What you get instead is a rustic fish camp with a deck overlooking the river and marina at 250 Ricefield Way in Brunswick.
The shrimp lineup is wide. Fried Georgia shrimp, boiled shrimp, blackened shrimp, and grilled shrimp all share the menu.
I like this stop for building a coastal Georgia sampler. Brunswick stew is a natural pick in the town that shares its name, and gator tail, crab balls, hush puppies, and spicy shrimp make a fun table to share.
Crab legs, grilled scallops, crab cakes, and onion rings are other popular choices. A fireplace warms the inside on cool days, while the deck is the spot when the weather cooperates.
Hours run 11 AM to 8 PM most days and until 9 PM Friday and Saturday. Reservations are accepted, and most meals fall between $20 and $30 per person.
6. Salt Island Fish and Beer, Tybee Island, GA

Three house-made hot sauces sit ready for your shrimp at Salt Island, which is a fun twist for a beach town lunch or dinner.
The rustic-chic spot at 101 Lovell Ave on Tybee Island focuses on fresh, locally caught Georgia shrimp. Fried shrimp platters are the go-to, and specials have included boiled peel-and-eat Georgia shrimp with fries.
The rest of the menu has a playful edge. Beer cheese hushpuppies, shrimp bruschetta, kalua pig, mussels, and oysters on the half shell all show up, along with fish and chips and the Salt Island Burger.
Vegetarians are covered with a full vegetarian menu, including buffalo cauliflower. The crowd is welcoming and family-friendly, and dogs can join you outside.
Watch the schedule. It is closed Tuesday, opens at 4 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and starts at noon Friday through Sunday.
Reservations are not accepted, so arriving early on weekends helps.
7. Pier 16, Tybee Island, GA

Ordering a full pound of fresh Georgia shrimp is a perfectly reasonable dinner plan at Pier 16. It is a fitting way to end a coastal shrimp tour.
Find it at 1601 Inlet Ave, near the beach on the south end of Tybee Island. The rooftop deck is the standout feature here.
Shrimp appears all over the menu, from shrimp cocktail and shrimp tacos to cheesy shrimp and grits with a little spice. The Low Country Boil and fried seafood platter are hearty choices for big appetites.
Crab and shrimp dip, crab stuffed mushrooms, and hush puppies make good starters. There is also a full vegetarian menu.
It is open daily from 11 AM to 10 PM. Parking is paid street parking and can be tricky to find, so give yourself extra time, especially on Saturday evenings.
Reservations are accepted, and dogs are allowed inside and out.
Every spot on this list proves that wild Georgia shrimp tastes best close to the boats that bring it in. Pick a town, plan the drive, and let the shrimp do the rest.
