7-Eleven is teaming up with Green Day and Punk Bunny to unveil a new Slurpee drink flavor: Kerplunk Kandy Grape as an ode to the band’s 1992 album “Kerplunk!”

Last weekend, Green Day commemorated their legacy in Hollywood through a Los Angeles pop-up event of their collaboration with 7-Eleven. The Kerplunk Kandy Speakeasy is an exclusive 7-Eleven x Punk Bunny (the band’s brand) pop-up experience that took place last May 3-4. The event offers guests a chance to try out their new products with free apparel customization to celebrate their newest flavor at 7-Eleven.

Now, what’s special about the Kerplunk Kandy Grape? It features a sweet and twisted drink that tastes exactly like cotton candy grapes. It came from Green Day’s snack pile that was reborn as an icy frozen treat. They’re now available for a limited time at participating stores of 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes nationwide.

Launched last Friday (May 2), the band announced their entrance through a megaphone as they head over to the giant Slurpee machine. They revealed that the unique and exclusive flavor was inspired by their rider’s request for cotton candy grapes. They posed with their fans and even signed a limited edition, hand-painted Punk Bunny figurines along with custom merch to show their partnership.

After the 2024 debut of Punk Bunny Coffee in 7-Eleven, there has been an anticipation for the next drop. With that, 7-Eleven and Green Day are also rolling out three new Punk Bunny coffee varieties at participating stores, which are Mike Dirnt’s Turn Up the Bass Medium Roast, Punk Bunny Cold Brew Caramel Latte, and Chocolate Almond Specialty Latte.

Marissa Jaratt, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Sustainability Officer at 7-Eleven Inc., said that their first launch kept customers excited as they love seeing the music world and coffee culture collide. Jaratt added that they’re channeling the same punk rock spirit over their iconic Slurpee drink. What’s great about this is that the Kerplunk Kandy Grape is actually rooted in the band’s story.

To celebrate the launch of the new drink, you can head over to select stores and get the new Slurpee drink and tune-worthy drink accessories that you can add to your Green Day mementos. You can score a limited edition collectible cup with custom straws that feature built-in Bluetooth speakers, which is perfect for turning a sig into a jam session. Each collectible cup has a QR code that links to a Spotify playlist created by Green Day.

In fact, even Billie Joe Armstrong recalled having great memories of Slurpee with his friends back when he was young. Being able to create a custom Punk Bunny flavor and bring it to everyone around the country has been an amazing moment for him.

What’s Brewing at Punk Bunny?

Punk Bunny is just new to the coffee scene since they’ve just started last year. It was launched by Green Day punk-rock band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool, and Mike Dirnt. The band is on a mission to bring fans the best coffee in the world, which became their aim when they created their branding.

As their newest project, they thought of their approach focusing on community, sustainability, and giving back. All of Punk Bunny’s roasts are organic and fair trade, having their own roasting facilities as they’ve partnered with organic farmers all around the world. They also plan to launch specialty roasts with their community partners, with profits going to their chosen charities — Oakland Roots is their first partner. Aside from that, the band also plans to donate profits through their Fuel by Love initiatives. These are the charities to receive:

  • One Tree Planted
  • Oceana
  • Eat, Learn, Play
  • Keep Memory Alive
  • The Ron Finley Project

The brand also partnered with Keurig for sustainability innovations, transitioning 100% of their packaging to compostable or recyclable by this year. Currently, the brand offers the following roasts:

  • Father of All… Dark Roasts
  • Last Ride In
  • Rooted Soul

Last year, Punk Bunny also collaborated with 7-Eleven for the Punk Bunny Coffee Anniversary Blend. It features hints of citrus to awaken the senses. There’s also some warm cocoa with a hint of spice finish for a multi-layered coffee experience. They also brought their Fair Trade Certified coffee, along with the bagged blends and K-Cups of Sound Check and Last Ride In roasts.

  • CC’s Coffee House – Along with Lemon Blueberry Cookie, the chain just released some Shaken Refreshers. First is the Strawberry Dragonfruit Shaken Refresher, which features a blend of strawberries, pomegranate, and dragonfruit. Next on the lineup is the Wild Berry Shaken Refresher, which features a juicy fusion of strawberries, blueberries, and cranberries.
  • Dutch Bros – The brand has finally released their matcha series in flavors of Lavender Matcha Latte, Raspberry Matcha Latte, and Paradise Matcha Latte. Each of them features matcha mixed in 2% milk with added fruit flavor. There are also other beverages like the Dulce de Leche and Mochi Berry that will be added to their lineup of new releases.
  • McDonald’s – They’re currently testing the Hershey’s Chocolate Chip Frappe in select locations of Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and more. The drink features a blend of McDonald’s signature Mocha Frappe and Caramel Frappe bases with a hint of coffee and swirled together with rich chocolate chips. The drink is topped with light whipped cream and sprinkled with even more chocolate chips.

From The Club

I’m in love with the concept of Punk Bunny in shaping the local community of roasters. I also appreciate the chosen charity concept as they prove that they are not only after the quality of their coffee, but also the condition of their surroundings. As for their 7-Eleven collab, I would love to take a sip of that Kerplunk Kandy Grape as I’m intrigued by the cotton candy grapes flavor. Good job, Punk Bunny!
