Jack in the Box is back with a new surprise and it’s perfect for the cozy soup season!

We’re still a couple of months away from winter, but it’s totally acceptable if you’re already thinking about warm blankets or hot noodle dish. We can’t help it, can we? Even the fall season brings less intense sunshine and cooler weather patterns. That said, Jack in the Box made a good call to drop its latest menu offering featuring a well-known Japanese dish: ramen.

Jack in the Box officially joins the ramen game as it unveils its Crispy Chicken Ramen Combo today. If you’re into trying something new and unique, this item will be available in San Diego, California. Customers can enjoy the rich and savory taste of the chicken-flavored ramen paired with a chicken strip. Upon the announcement of this new menu item, fans and speculators exchanged mixed opinions. Some say that chicken strip might not be a great addition, others are talking about the rise of fast food ramen.

Since ramen is one of the most popular Asian food options in the US, Jack in the Box is likely banking on the potential sales from this new item. Further, as ramen goes fast casual, the challenge for restaurants like Jack in the Box is to make sure that it won’t come off as instant ramen of the college dorm years. Ramen is known as a global gourmet phenomenon, so diners expect a smooth and tasty bowl from those who would dare offer it.

In the last quarter of 2023, Del Taco also released Shredded Beef Birria Ramen in an attempt to delight ramen lovers. According to the restaurant, ramen and Birria (a type of stew made with spiced and braised beef) offer a comforting eating experience. The release of this item made them the first quick-service restaurant to offer ramen.

Curious about how Jack in the Box will stack up against Del Taco and other restaurants offering ramen? Stay tuned for the food news articles we will release on this topic.

I must say Jack in the Box always goes out of its way when offering something new to its diners. It’s even more admirable how they find ways to offer popular items at a discounted price. It shows how they really value overall dining experience. Now, about the Crispy Chicken Ramen Combo…I’m not too thrilled about it but I’d like to give it a chance. I hope we could see more fresh ingredients in it though. I think it’s one way to make sure the dish is quite close to the authentic one.
