Curious Case of the Big Bite Hot Dog Sparkling Water
I live in Los Angeles, and when I got wind of the Big Bite Hot Dog Sparkling Water, I didn’t know whether it was real or fake; but I was intrigued. As a content creator, I was thinking of the possibilities to pair Hot Dog Water with. For some reason, the idea of dunking a Big Bite Hot Dog covered in mustard and onions into a bowl of the Big Bite Hot Dog Sparkling Water sounded like it would actually work. I thought 7-Eleven (7-11) management were borderline geniuses.
I thought this was going to be an easy grab and go. I went to my nearest 7-Eleven and checked the sparkling water section.. Lots of sparkling water varieties to choose from but I couldn’t find the Hot Dog Water. Maybe its an energy drink? So I checked that section up and down.. Ok, maybe it’s in the 21+ section next to the micheladas? Nope, nothing. 😟
To prove I wasn’t losing my mind, I went up to the counter and asked the guy if he had any more of the Hot Dog Sparkling Water. The guy thought I meant Hot Dogs + Sparkling Water. I clarified and then he thought I was a little crazy, then asked me if I was on drugs. ‘No sir, I’m just a content creator. I can see the confusion. We do some pretty dumb stuff sometimes.’
I even showed him the official press release that we received for the collab on March 28. He told me to come back later in the week and maybe it will be here. Sigh. Clearly this wasn’t April Fools, because a. It was sent on March 28, and b. There were people reviewing the Hot Dog Water.
All week I’ve been craving a hot dog. That subliminal messaging just made me want one so bad, but I held didn’t cave into the pressure and I thought I would wait for my big moment when the Hot Dog Water arrives. Ironically I even had a song appear on my Spotify radio from Limp Bizkit’s Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Water; so I thought maybe that was a sign!
The Return to the 7 Eleven Store
Seven days goes by, and I head back to the 7-Eleven optimistic, because clearly it should be there, and clearly nobody else would even want this damn sparkling water.
The same guy that helped me before saw me as I was scanning the refrigerator.
‘Oh you again’, he said.
‘Did you get the Hot Dog Sparkling Water in yet?’ I emphasized the drink so he wasn’t confused again.
‘No, my friend. It’s a joke. April fools.’ He started to chuckle. I was tempted to grab a Big Bite and toss it at him football style to the open mouth.
The other guy at the register had to chime in, ‘Do you know how many people came in to look for that hot dog water this week? It was crazy. They were even showing us different videos and images.’
At least I felt like I had become a part of some kind of Hot Dog Water cult. I’m sure there will be a Facebook Group formed shortly for us all to convene.
But then, I had the realization that I was duped again. I walked out of the store empty handed doing a Charlie Brown walk of shame.
I started to do some more searching to see if there was a missed press release that we never received, and low and behold, something was distributed.

We admit that we created a limited supply of 7-Select Big Bite Hot Dog Sparkling Water as a joke, but it sounds like there might be more people out there than we anticipated who want to see our Big Bite Hot Dogs as a beverage. The irony behind this is that they didn’t realize it was going to be such a viral hit and so they are casting a vote to get a sense of the demand to do another limited release.
Do you think they’ll release it in the future? Or should we all just move on to another simple pleasure?
I was a little bummed I didn’t get a can like some others I know, but maybe in the future they’ll consider me. 😉
