Yes, we love fast food. But fast food drama? We live for it! Ronald McDonald’s should look out because Chili’s is coming for him (again) and for the rest of the fast food chains serving “value” meals. But that’s not all, because Chili’s is also introducing a new menu item that could rival McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese. Meanwhile, bold moves are coming from Portillo’s, as the brand is about to serve tasty sandwiches to hungry morning people. Yup, we’re talking about Portillo’s new breakfast menu! Chili’s New Big QP Burger
Chili’s is known for offering unrivaled value in the industry, and you have their 3 For Me menu to prove that. This was originally released back in 2022, allowing customers to enjoy an entrée and side, bottomless chips and salsa appetizer, and a drink, for just $10.99. This time, though, they’re bringing the value to the next level by introducing the new Big QP Burger to the 3 For Me Menu! Additionally, Chili’s is helping consumers offset the ever-increasing cost of fast food with Fast Food Financing, a limited-time and in-person pop-up experience.
Let’s talk about the updated 3 For Me menu first. Clearly, the brand continues to make their menu value-packed with the addition of Big QP burger, made with 85% more beef than McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese. The Big QP also comes with two slices of American cheese, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and diced onions. So, all the familiar fast food flavors are here! This new burger is now available at Chili’s locations across the country, as part of the 3 For Me menu. The Big QP joins the menu alongside the Big Smasher, which has twice the beef you’d find in a Big Mac.
In addition, on April 16 and April 17, fans are encouraged to stop by the pop-up experience at 37 Union Square West New York, NY 10003 (located next to a popular fast food chain), from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. Chili’s Fast Food Financing will be there, offering a solution to the increasing fast food prices. It’s an immersive space that simulates a financing store experience, wherein guests will be “approved” and get a gift card (while supplies last) to offset the cost of fast food and access a Chili’s speakeasy. There, the all-new Big QP Burger, along with fries, bottomless chips and salsa, and a bottomless drink, will offer a better value than other fast food meals.
Can’t make it to the pop-up experience? No worries; Chili’s will also host social giveaways on X for fans who want to get in on the Fast Food Financing, so don’t miss out!
Portillo’s Breakfast Menu in Select Locations
Portillo’s is a Chicago-born chain mostly known for their Italian beef and hot dogs. These sandwiches are mighty fine, and it shows in the fact that the brand is serving more of them for breakfast. That’s right, there’s more to love about Portillo’s because they’re now testing a breakfast menu for a limited time (through summer) at five locations in Chicago.
Portillo’s is doing something better than serving hot dogs in the morning. From 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. daily, the participating stores will be serving three breakfast sandwiches, along with the signature Italian beef. The breakfast sandwiches include char-grilled Polish sausage loaded into French bread, alongside melty American cheese, scrambled egg, and giardiniera sauce. You can also opt for the classic Bacon, Egg, and Cheese, served on a warm croissant, or its vegetarian version, the Pepper, Egg, and Cheese. The latter comes with sweet peppers and giardiniera sauce on French bread, along with American cheese and scrambled eggs.
Additionally, guests can enjoy any of those sandwiches with a choice of sides. Options include the following:
- Loaded Scramble (fluffy eggs with hash browns and crispy bacon in a creamy cheese sauce)
- A cup of freshly cut fruit
- Coin-shaped Hash Brown Bites
Also, Portillo’s fans would know just how crave-worthy the brand’s chocolate cake is. That’s why, for breakfast, this dessert is getting its own equivalent, the Portillo’s Chocolate Cake Donut! This is made in collaboration with Stan’s Donuts, featuring a chocolate-flavored pastry, dipped in chocolate glaze and drizzled with chocolate frosting.
Coffee is also available, hot or iced, in collaboration with local Chicago roaster Metropolis Coffee. The menu includes vanilla or Chocolate Cake Iced Coffee, inspired by Portillo’s decadent cake. So there you have it, Portillo’s test menu for breakfast! For those who are primarily seeking value, breakfast meal deals are also up for grabs. Enjoy a sandwich of your choice, Hash Brown Bites, and a small coffee for only $7.99.

What an exciting roundup of new menu releases! I’m so ready for the new Big QP burger from Chili’s even though I don’t normally eat huge fast food items; I’d do it for the experience, value, and of course, to see if it’s really close to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder, lol! I also love that Portillo’s is getting more experimental. The breakfast menu sounds great with all those sandwiches and chocolatey treats and drinks. Let’s hope for a nationwide release soon! 🙏
