We’re bound to witness new fast food items from Burger King and Dairy Queen. I just know this because both chains are testing some good stuff at select locations in the US. As always, Ohio gets the newest fast food deals before everyone else. But those who live in Texas will also have something to look forward to. Hint: a sweet treat that could extend the holiday feels! For those who don’t live near or within these areas, we still urge you to check out these new fast food items, and make some noise if you want to see them go nationwide. Burger King
Game day season is still on and it’s evident in the new menu offerings of Burger King. The fast food giant has been working on its own take on a staple at sporting events: nacho cheese! This iconic dip can now be enjoyed with your favorite flame grilled patty and a new bun. Nacho cheese will also level up your chicken fries experience. Here’s everything you need to know about Burger King’s latest fast food releases:
- Game Day Pretzel Whopper – Served on a SuperPretzel bun, this new Whopper still has the 100% flame-grilled beef patty that you love. But the special surprise is it’s going to be loaded with nacho cheese sauce! Expect this and other ingredients that make Whoppers delectable: melty American cheese, crispy bacon, onions, and pickles.
- Nacho Chicken Fries – If you’re looking for a dippable treat that’s perfect for watch parties, this could be it! These are clearly not your ordinary chicken fries as they’re made with white meat chicken coated in crispy tortilla chip breading. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the nacho cheese sauce on the side.
Both of these fast food items are now being tested in Columbus, Ohio. Meanwhile, fans from other areas can’t help but drool over these new offerings, with some of them hoping for a nationwide release soon. Burger King is known for innovative product development and their ever-so flexible menu that adapts to consumer preferences.
Moreover, the fast food chain doesn’t want to be outdone when it comes to offering affordable, tasty meals. That’s why the brand has also been making waves for its recent deal drops that could save you a couple of bucks:
- $5 Duo or $7 Trio Deal – Mix and match two to three of your favorite items at Burger King for only $5 or $7. This fast food deal allows you to “have it your way,” so you can choose to have 3 Bacon Cheese Burgers or 2 Original Chicken Sandwich for an affordable price. Of course, there are more combinations to try from the menu selection!
- Ultimate Wrap Party – Now, going back to game day food, here’s a deal that you and your best buds will enjoy. For only $22, you can score 4 Royal Crispy Wraps, 2 Whoppers, and 2 Medium Fries. Take note, though, that this fast food deal is only available online or via the BK app.

Dairy Queen
Dairy Queen is also (re) testing a new item that’s perfect for winter season. Yup, that’s right, it’s a returning blizzard flavor that will remind you of your favorite warm drink. Say hello again to OREO Hot Cocoa Blizzard! This frozen treat is made with DQ’s world-famous soft serve, blended with cocoa fudge and OREO cookie pieces, and then finished with a whipped cream topping.
The OREO Hot Cocoa Blizzard was last seen in 2022, so fans are stoked to see this on the menu again. But since it’s a test item, it will only be available in select locations, specifically Ohio and Texas. If you’re not from these areas, don’t worry. You can still satisfy your OREO cravings by trying out another limited-time offer on Dairy Queen’s menu: OREO Fudge Brownie Blizzard. Or, better yet have a go at the recent blizzard of the month, Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard, for a nostalgic winter treat.

The chain’s Jack Wraps lineup just got bigger with the addition of two new items: Fajita Jack Wrap and Caesar Jack Wrap. Both wraps include grilled or crispy white meat chicken strips, tomato, and shredded lettuce. The difference lies in the sauce and other additional ingredients. Caesar Jack Wrap comes with Caesar dressing, while Fajita Jack Wrap features chipotle ranch, shredded cheddar cheese, and caramelized onions. Popeyes’ Louisiana Garlic Wings
Fast food giant Popeyes also joins the chicken wars with the launch of Louisiana Garlic Wings. This new item is available as boneless or bone-in, with a flavor profile inspired by Louisiana’s Cajun flavors. That means the chicken wings are marinated in Louisiana spices, fried until golden, and then coated in Louisiana Garlic Wing Sauce for extra flavor! You can grab a 6-piece order of these new chicken wings for only $5.99 (may vary by location).
Wendy’s Vanilla Frosty
Wendy’s fans, are you looking for a classic sip to pair with your favorite burgers? Well, look no further than the returning Vanilla Frosty! The famous sweet treat is here for a good time and not for a long time, so you better grab it while you can. Rumor has it that the limited-time sip will be available at select Wendy’s locations through February; it would perhaps say goodbye once the Thin Mints Frosty is released.

How I wish I live in Ohio right now, because look at those Game Day treats from Burger King! I’m already drooling over the Nacho Chicken Fries. Dairy Queen is also wild for bringing back a 2022 flavor featuring hot cocoa and OREO. It’s just the right kind of treat for a chilly winter evening. Can we hurry up with all the testing, please?
