We’ve recreated the exact taste you know and love and even experimented to create a replica of Burger King’s Fry Sauce! This recipe is easy to prep and makes the perfect snack or light meal. Grab some while you can; we can’t guarantee you’ll have leftovers.

Chicken Fries 101

Everyone knows about chicken nuggets, but what’s the deal with chicken fries? Burger King released this fun option in the early 2000s, giving diners a portable option with total dipability. The unique French fry shape meant this item cooked fast and had a different texture than your ordinary nugget. Burger King originally meant for chicken fries to be a temporary fix but made them a permanent fixture in the late 2000s.

Burger King may have been the first to launch chicken fries, but they’ve had several copycats, including Wendy’s, regularly releasing varieties of chicken strips. With various dipping options and an explosion of flavor, chicken fries are bound to gain traction for years to come.

Here’s how to make enough Burger King Chicken Fries for the whole family!

Step One: Slice the Chicken Breasts

Step One: Slice the Chicken Breasts

Remove the thawed chicken breasts from their packaging and slice them thinly. If your chicken breast is extra meaty, you may have to slice it once and then cut each slice in two. Place the chicken strips, salt, pepper, egg, garlic powder, and onion powder in a food processor and pulse until well blended. Form the ground chicken mixture into fry like shapes, then place in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Step Two: Make the Breading

Step Two: Make the Breading in a food processor

Place the Panko breadcrumbs, 1 teaspoon of salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika in the bowl of a food processor and pulse until the mixture resembles fine sand.

Step Three: Bread the Chicken Fries

Pour 2-3 inches of oil into the bottom of a large soup pot or Dutch oven and heat the vegetable oil to 350℉ (or you can use a deep fryer). Transfer the breadcrumb mixture to a shallow dish. In a separate bowl, combine the eggs and water until smooth. Add the flour to a separate bowl so you have an assembly line.

Working in batches, dip the chicken fries in flour, then egg wash, then the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.

Step Four: Fry the Burger King Chicken Fries

Step Four: Fry the Burger King Chicken Fries

Working in batches of 3 or 4, gently lower the chicken fries into the hot oil. Let fry for 3 minutes, flipping halfway through. Remove from the oil, place on a wire cooling rack set over a baking sheet, and sprinkle with a pinch of the remaining salt. Repeat the process until all of the meat is fried.

If desired, you can keep the fried chicken in a 200℉ oven to keep warm while the rest of the meat cooks.
