McDonald’s basically kickstarted the fast food industry. Whenever you think or talk about fast food, chances are, your mind will immediately conjure up an image of the golden arches. Over the years, McDonald’s has created some of the most iconic fast food items of all time. You have the McChicken, the Big Mac, the McFlurry, the McNuggets. All of them are amazing and have cemented their place in the fast food hall of fame. But none of them can compare to the greatest McDonald’s item of all time. The mere mention of its name is enough to drive its massive fanbase into a collective frenzy. And that item, is making a return.

McDonald’s just confirmed that the McRib is making a comeback later this year. The cult favorite is set to return to their menu soon as confirmed by McDonald’s US president, Joe Erlinger. But you’d better catch it while you can, as its return would only be for a limited time at your local McDonald’s restaurant. The McRib is a pork sandwich that features a seasoned boneless pork patty covered in tangy bbq sauce, topped with onions, pickles, and nestled on a toasted bun. The McRib is one of those items that periodically returns on McDonald’s menus for some time before being removed again.
This is some pretty exciting news. Anyone who’s had a McRib knows exactly what to expect from this limited-time item. While the exact time of its rerelease is still unknown, it’s rumored to be coming out in the Fall right around November. Still, we can remain confident that it’s the head honcho at McDonald’s US who assured us it will be coming back soon.
We’ll definitely keep an eye out for the McRib so you better stay tuned for more updates regarding everyone’s favorite elusive saucy sandwich!
What’s New at McDonald’s?
At McDonald’s, there’s always something new to enjoy. They constantly come up with new items that are guaranteed to be both satisfying and delicious. This summer alone, they released a new deal and two limited-time summer menu items. Let’s a take a look at what’s new with McDonald’s.

$5 Meal Deal
McDonald’s is known for being fast, affordable, and delicious. This time, they decided to take things up a notch with the release of a great value meal deal. The $5 Meal Deal will get you a full meal with four items for the low price of $5. You can choose between either a McDouble or a McChicken and you’ll get small fries, four-piece chicken nuggets, and a small soft drink on the side. On top of that, McDonald’s is also giving away free Medium sized fries every Friday for the rest of the year as long as you make a purchase of at least $1 on their app.

Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with Cheese
This is the star of McDonald’s summer menu. While not exactly a new menu item since it was tested in select locations before, it is currently getting a nationwide rollout. This new burger features a quarter-pound beef patty topped with two slices of melted American cheese, thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon, Roma tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and a new smoky sauce, all on a toasted sesame seed bun. The new smoky sauce is what gives it a distinct barbecue flavor that made it the perfect addition to their summer menu.

Best Limited-Time Items at McDonald’s
The McRib may be generating all the hype lately but, there’s no shortage of exciting limited-time items at McDonald’s. They’ve released and removed a ton of items on their menus over the years and some of them left a massive impact. They weren’t just food; they were basically cultural events in of themselves.

McLobster
This was a seasonal sandwich in McDonald’s first introduced in 1993. It’s essentially a lobster roll served in a hot dog bun with shredded lettuce and McDonald’s patented “lobster sauce.” Initially, it wasn’t very profitable and was considered one of McDonald’s failed meals. But it made a brief return in McDonald’s menu when it generated hype after actor, Elliot Page, mentioned it in an interview with Conan O’Brien.

Szechuan Sauce
Here’s another menu item from McDonald’s that had people going absolutely nuts. The Szechuan Sauce was originally released back in the 90s as part of a promotion involving the hit Disney film, Mulan. It was released as a dipping sauce for the Chicken McNuggets. It was discontinued but entered the mainstream once gain once it was mentioned in the TV show, Rick and Morty. McDonald’s eventually brought back the product and some people even staged riots just because their local branch ran out of Szechuan Sauce. This limited-time menu item was so popular that when it was discontinued again, a packet of this sauce had the same value as a used car.
