Costco’s well-loved $1.50 hot dog and soda combo could be changing soon. For years, fans have enjoyed this affordable deal at the Costco food court. However, there’s buzz that the price might not stay so low.
Some recent talk on Reddit suggests the price could change. This comes with new shifts in Costco’s management. Starting this year, you’ll need to be a Costco member to eat at the food court. You’ll also have to show your membership card at the door.
Big changes are happening at the top of Costco, too. Craig Jelinek, the previous CEO, retired on January 1. The new CEO is former President and COO Ron Vachris. Jelinek is still helping out for a bit longer. Also, Richard Galanti, the CFO for over 40 years, plans to retire soon.
With these updates, including membership and leadership changes, some people are worried about the prices. But in a recent interview, when asked about the hot dog combo price going up, Galanti gave a little bit of hope. He said it’s probably safe for a while, though he didn’t promise anything.
For the time being, Costco fans can take a breath. The classic $1.50 hot dog combo is staying put. But, with all these changes at Costco, it’s hard to say if prices will stay the same in the future.
