Summer is the perfect season for brand new fast food items. Why? Because a lot more people are going out and are looking for new food to try. They’ll also be seeking refreshing beverages to beat the heat. It’s a good thing that these fast food brands know this very well and have committed to giving us only the best new items they can come up with.
With all the releases though, it can get overwhelming for the average customer to decide what to get. Here are some fast food items that are currently out this summer for a limited-time that you have to try. Let’s take a look at each of them:
Small Sliders
Sliders may be the name of the game over at Small Sliders but they’ve got something new and refreshing in store for us this summer. They just released their Smorange Dreamsicle Shake which is a vanilla shake with orange flavoring added with prices that start at $4.99.
Papa John’s
Can’t decide between a pizza or a burger? Why not both? These latest returning items from Papa John’s will definitely scratch that pizza and burger craving you’ve been having. There’s the Cheesy Burger Pizza, the Cheesy Burger Papadia, and the Cheesy Burger Papa Bites.
TooJay’s
Unlike most of the other fast food items here, TooJay’s latest offerings are going to be part of their permanent menu. They’ve got lots of good stuff coming out but the real star of the show is the return of their Pastrami Burger. Made with a sirloin beef patty in pastrami rub then topped with pastrami, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese, and chipotle mayonnaise for only $16.99.
Shake Shack
June isn’t just the start of summer, it’s also Pride Month! Shake Shack wants to celebrate by giving you the option to add Rainbow Sprinkles to any of their world famous shakes for only 50 cents which will all go to LGBTQ+ support organization PFLAG National. They’re also coming out with Strawberry Frosted Donut Shake for only $7.39.
Schlotzsky’s
Schlotzsky’s is home to The Original oven-baked sandwich. But this summer, they’re also the home of the new Cinnabon Cookie Sandwich and the Cinnabon Frosted Cookie. Both of them feature Cinnabon cream cheese frosting and chocolate chip cookies.
Krispy Kreme
For a chain that’s basically been synonymous with doughnuts, it took them this long to make doughnut holes a permanent part of their menu. Called the Doughnut Dots, these doughnut holes are available with choice of powdered topping, rainbow nonpareils, cinnamon topping, or cookie crumb topping with powdered topping.
Applebee’s
Applebee’s is adding not one, not two, but three new chicken sandwiches to their menu. You have the Bacon Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Sweet & Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and the Bacon Cheddar Crispy Chicken Sandwich. All of them sound absolutely delicious and features a breaded fried chicken breast and an assortment of different sauces.

The Maple Pepper Bacon Sandwich is the latest in Chick-fil-A‘s long list of amazing chicken sandwiches. This has to be one of their best releases to date as well. I mean how could you even top a sandwich made with a lemon-herb marinated grilled chicken fillet, maple-flavored brioche bun, green leaf lettuce, pepper Jack cheese, candied pepper bacon, and spicy bread & butter pickles? Then we have the return of the Peach Milkshake, which is basically a Chick-fil-A summer tradition at this point. It’s always a welcome return since it’s a fan-favorite.
Triple Berry Frosty
Looking for something cold, sweet, and tastes like berries? Wendy’s latest flavor will have you covered. This is an amazing new addition to their limited list of frosty flavors over the years. The frosty, which is part of the five original menu items when Wendy’s first launched, is experiencing a lot of new changes in the past years. Made with strawberry, blackberry, and raspberry flavors, the new Triple Berry Frosty is guaranteed to be berry delicious.

There’s A LOT to be excited about this summer. How are we supposed to get our beach bods with all these new fast food items coming out?! Kidding aside, these are all really great releases and I’m happy that a lot of fast food chains are actually trying to come up with the best product they can produce. Personally, I’m really excited to try Papa John’s returning Cheesy Burger Pizza. I’ve had other burger-flavored pizzas before and I’m curious to see how theirs will hold up against them.
