There’s never been a better time to enjoy Tex-Mex than this summer!
The season of summer menu releases isn’t over just yet! We’re still getting a lot of menu items being dropped by fast food restaurants. One of the best kind of food to enjoy during summer is Tex-Mex cuisine. Fortunately, we got lots of fast food chains serving up this exact kind of food. We won’t have any shortage of new Tex-Mex menu items this time of the year. In fact, two prominent Tex-Mex restaurants just released their own sets of menu items.
Let’s start off with Tocaya. Tocaya is one of the best Mexican fast food chains in the industry right now. They’re not as talked out as often as other similar brands but they definitely deserve to be covered more. This summer, they’re releasing new items for their summer menu that combine traditional and modern tastes. These new additions are Torta Combos and A La Carte Tortas. Let’s take a closer look.
- Chicken Torta Combo – This new torta combo features chicken tinga, creamy guacamole, fresh queso fresco, crisp romaine lettuce, vegan chipotle crema, and tangy tomatillo salsa. Each combo comes with a side and a refreshing agua fresca. This is the classic Torta Combo experience.
- Birria Torta Combo – Want something with beef instead? Check out the Birria Torta Combo. It includes slow-cooked beef paired with similar toppings, providing a rich and savory experience, complete with a side and agua fresca.
- Potato Torta Combo – If you’re looking for something unique, then Tocaya still has you covered. The Potato Torta Combo is made of purple Peruvian potatoes along with the signature torta ingredients. Also comes served with a side and agua fresca.
- Shrimp Torta – Seafood isn’t usually associated with Mexican cuisine but Tocaya is committed to switching things up. So if you want seafood on your Torta Combo, try the Shrimp Torta. It’s loaded with grilled shrimp, guacamole, romaine lettuce, vegan chipotle crema, and tomatillo salsa, accompanied by a side of agua fresca.
Tocaya is great at innovating their classic menu and they continue to evolve it by routinely introducing new and exciting options. But they aren’t the only ones with an amazing Tex-Mex drop this season. The next fast food restaurant we’re going to cover just launched a new burrito.
When we think of Taco Time, we think of well, tacos. But that’s not the only thing great on their menu. In fact, Taco Time has been serving up some of the best burritos we’ve ever had. And this summer, they’re offering up a new promotion with the launch of their new Smoky Pork Crisp Burrito.
The Smoky Pork Crisp Burrito features tender pork carnitas, creamy cream cheese, crispy bacon, and smoky chipotle spices, all hand-rolled in a flour tortilla. This burrito was the winning creation in the 2023 Crew Contest, submitted by a team member from the Sherwood, Oregon Taco Time location. It’s a unique and flavorful option that expands Taco Time’s well-known Crisp Burrito selection.
Both Tocaya’s summer menu and Taco Time’s Smoky Pork Crisp Burrito are now up for purchase. But like most summer menu items, these are all only available for a limited-time so, you better act fast and try these new menu items as soon as you can. Tocaya’s summer menu will be available for the rest of summer while Taco Time’s Smoky Pork Crisp Burrito would be available from July 24, 2024, to October 22, 2024.

Best Items to Order at Tocaya and Taco Time
Apart from their latest releases, there are still plenty of good food to order at Tocaya and Taco Time. Their menu is filled with delicious burritos, tacos, and other Tex-Mex staples. Here are two of the best items you need to try.
Tocaya’s Fajita Burrito
Ever thought about what it would be like if we had a fajita and a burrito rolled into one? Tocaya has you covered! The Fajita Burrito from Tocaya features a mix of grilled fajita vegetables, rice, black beans, vegan chipotle crema, and guacamole, all wrapped in a flour tortilla. It can be customized with a variety of protein options, including carne asada, pollo asado, or vegan alternatives like adobo tofu.
Taco Time’s Crisp Meat Burrito
Want even more Crispy Burritos from Taco Time? Try one of their original Crisp Burritos, the Crisp Meat Burrito. It features seasoned ground beef mixed with refried pinto beans and shredded cheddar cheese, all wrapped in a flour tortilla and then deep-fried to create a crispy exterior. It’s known for its satisfying crunch and flavorful filling.

Tex-Mex is one of my favorite kinds of food! I just love how this cuisine seasons meat and mixes it with all sorts of flavorful combinations. Taco Time and Tocaya can do no wrong in my eyes and these new menu items from them definitely look promising. I’m more of a Taco Time guy so you bet that I’ll be trying the new Smoky Pork Crisp Burrito. It has all the makings of a great burrito and I bet it will be delicious.
