Häagen-Dazs’ Cool History

When you hear “Häagen-Dazs,” you might think of fancy desserts or rich ice cream on a hot day. But this famous brand actually began humbly in 1960 with two Polish immigrants, Reuben and Rose Mattus. The Mattuses were living in Bronx, New York when they dreamed up their own premium ice cream brand at a time when others were offering ice cream that’s been “pumped with air.”

Their dream became a reality with the birth of Häagen-Dazs – a made-up name, that sounds European and fancy but doesn’t really translate to anything. The Mattuses chose this name to associate luxury and sophistication with the brand.

Since then, Häagen-Dazs has grown into a global brand, known for its commitment to quality and fine flavors. From classic ice cream pints to innovative treats like their new Frozen Lemonades, Häagen-Dazs continues to prove why it’s a top choice among ice cream lovers around the world.

Other Must-Try Coolers from Häagen-Dazs

You might not be aware but Häagen-Dazs offers other kinds of ice cream products at their shops. Yes, the popular ice cream provider has walk-in locations you can visit (some people don’t know this!). If you’re wondering what else you can order at these stores besides the regular Häagen-Dazs ice creams, let me tell you about Häagen-Dazs’ Dazzler Sundaes – a treat that combines layers of their signature ice cream with a variety of toppings and sauces. May not sound like a lot but the sample photo below should show just how delightful they are.

The Banana Split Dazzler: This classic sundae features scoops of vanilla, sliced bananas, pineapple, and strawberries. It’s topped with hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry. Not a traditional banana split, but that’s not what Häagen-Dazs is going for anyway.

The Cookies & Cream Dazzler: A decadent sundae with layers of cookies and cream ice cream, hot fudge, and cookie pieces. It’s finished with whipped cream and more cookie crumbles for good measure.

The Dulce de Leche Dazzler: Featuring creamy caramel ice cream, this sundae is layered with caramel sauce, sliced bananas, and whipped cream. It’s the ultimate treat for caramel lovers.

The Mint Chip Dazzler: Cool and refreshing, this sundae combines layers of mint chip ice cream with hot fudge and cookie pieces, complete with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.

The Rocky Road Dazzler: This sundae features rocky road ice cream with hot fudge and cookie pieces. It’s topped with whipped cream and cookie crumbles for additional texture and chocolate flavor.

The Midnight Cookies & Cream Dazzler: A twist on the classic cookies and cream, this sundae features Häagen-Dazs’ midnight cookies and cream ice cream with layers of hot fudge, cookie pieces, whipped cream, and more hot fudge. If you want something indulgent, this is it.

Customers can get these amazing Dazzler Sundaes at Häagen-Dazs shops nationwide, along with other offerings like their milkshakes, smoothies, frappés, and more. Häagen-Dazs’ limited-edition Frozen lemonades are available now until August 31st.

From The Club

I’m actually surprised that there are people who didn’t know Häagen-Dazs had shops that you could go to. Maybe they just didn’t have one in their area? That would be a bummer! The Banana Split Dazzler is definitely my favorite thing to get at my nearest Häagen-Dazs. But for this summer, I’m definitely going for that new Strawberry Mango Frozen Lemonade!
