Jack in the Box just announced the long awaited return of a fan favorite! But it has a twist; it’s coming with a celebrity collaboration.

A year ago, Jack in the Box discontinued one of their most popular menu items and fans weren’t too happy about it. They’ve voiced their displeasure all over social media with some even going so far as to stage a rebellion. I’m pretty sure they were kidding but I get where they’re coming from. The Chick-N-Tater Melt was that good. Fast forward to today and it looks like Jack in the Box is going back on their word and bringing back the famous sandwich.

Jack in the Box is bringing back the Chick-N-Tater Melt in a collaboration with legendary rapper and actor, Ice Cube. They’re creating a new deal for a menu item called the Ice Cube Munchie Meal. This meal deal is set to release on June 3, 2024 and will be available until July 14, 2024. What’s included in the meal? Let’s take a look. The Ice Cube Munchie Meal includes:

  • One Chick-N-Tater Melt: A sandwich with a fried chicken patty, bacon, cheddar cheese, Swiss-style cheese, a white cheese sauce, ranch dressing, and a hash brown.
  • Three Sides: A taco, seasoned curly fries, and mini churros.
  • One Small Drink: A Sprite, with the option to substitute for another soda.

For only $12, the Ice Cube Munchie Meal definitely packs a bit more than the typical Munchie Meal from Jack in the Box which usually includes a choice of sandwich, two sides, and a drink for the same price.

A Fast Food Revolution

Jack in the Box may be pretty well-known today as a fast food giant. But do you know how it started and how it revolutionized the industry? It all began in 1951. Robert O. Peterson was a visionary businessman who saw the massive potential for a drive-thru restaurant. Back then, most drive-in restaurants were pretty slow and inefficient. He wanted to speed things up and make the whole dining experience much more convenient for the customers. And then he had his groundbreaking idea. This idea was to use an intercom system that would allow customers to place their orders without having to leave their cars. This was first implemented in the first Jack in the Box in San Diego, California where they featured a large clown head that “spoke” to customers as they placed their orders. This gimmick made quickly made them famous and became the standard for the drive-thru systems we have to this day.

Over the years, Jack in the Box grew and evolved. They expanded their menu to adapt to customer preferences. In the 1970s, they introduced their famous Munchie Meals which catered to late-night cravings. They addressed a very particular need and this helped solidify their place in fast-food culture. Since then, Jack in the Box has continued to captivate the public with memorable advertising campaigns and a diverse menu that often incorporates bold flavor combinations.

Innovative Menu Additions

In recent years, Jack in the Box has frequently made headlines with its innovative menu items and engaging promotional campaigns. In 2021, the launch of the “Cluck Sandwich” garnered major attention, boosting the chain’s visibility and sales. Just months ago, their limited-time offering, the “Triple Bonus Jack,” was noted for combining nostalgic appeal with hearty meal portions, mirroring consumer preferences for comfort and value.

A Unique Collaboration at Jack in the Box

The return of the Chick-N-Tater Melt highlights a growing trend in the fast-food industry: the power of social media and customer feedback. In today’s digital age, consumers have more ways than ever to voice their opinions and interact with their favorite brands.

When Jack in the Box removed the popular sandwich from their menu, fans took to platforms like Twitter and Facebook to express their disappointment. The hashtag #BringBackTheChickNTaterMelt gained traction, with customers sharing stories and photos of their love for the discontinued item.

Jack in the Box, recognizing the passion of their customer base, listened to the feedback. The return of the Chick-N-Tater Melt, particularly as part of a collaboration with Ice Cube, demonstrates the company’s willingness to adapt and engage with their audience in creative ways. This move not only brings back a fan favorite but also generates positive publicity and reinforces the brand’s image as one that listens to its customers.

From The Club

I remember when Jack in the Box first discontinued the Chick-N-Tater Melt. Everyone was just disappointed at the fast food chain for taking off something that was incredibly well-received. It was a questionable move for sure. But we’re willing to let bygones be bygones since Jack in the Box is making things right by bringing back one of the best sandwiches to ever grace their menu. Ice Cube is along for the ride too so you just know that it’s going to be good. Jack in the Box always does well when they collaborate with rappers.
