Behind the Success of Haribo and Target

When you think of gummy candy, it’s impossible not to think of Haribo. After all, they did invent gummy bears. It’s a brand that has been around for over a hundred years! It all started in Bonn, Germany during 1920. Hans Riegel started making candy in his kitchen with the most barebones of equipment: a small copper pot, a marble slab, a stool, a brick oven, and a rolling pin. Truly the most humble of beginnings for what would become a world famous brand of candy. He combined the first two letters of his first and last names with the name of his hometown, Bonn, to create the brand name “Haribo.” The company has since grown into the global powerhouse it is today and is famous for their gummy bears and other chewy candies.

On the other hand, we have Target. Target began in 1962 as the discount division of Dayton’s, a department store in Minneapolis. Thanks to its trendy yet affordable products, it didn’t take long for the brand to grow into its own establishment. With its bullseye logo and the slogan “Expect More. Pay Less.,” Target has become a favorite shopping destination for many Americans.

Now, these two iconic brands have come together to create a special edition candy mix that combines the best of both worlds. This limited-time offering features Haribo gummies in exclusive Target shapes: the Bullseye mascot, the Target logo, and a shopping cart. This unique collaboration aims to delight candy fans while showcasing the playful and creative spirit of both brands.

Recent News and Buzz Around Target and Haribo

In the past two years, both Target and Haribo have made headlines with various announcements and initiatives. For instance, Target has continually expanded its grocery offerings and emphasized sustainability. In early 2021, the retail giant introduced its “Good & Gather” brand, focusing on high-quality, affordable food options. Additionally, Target has made significant strides toward sustainability, aiming for 100% recyclable or compostable packaging by 2025.

Haribo has also been in the news, notably for its plans to build its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Announced in 2017, this $242 million investment aims to meet the growing demand for Haribo gummies in the United States. The factory is scheduled to open in late 2023, creating around 400 jobs.

The collaboration between Target and Haribo has sparked excitement among shoppers and candy enthusiasts alike. This exclusive candy mix is a testament to the innovative spirit of both brands, and it has generated buzz on social media platforms.

The Allure of Limited Edition Candy Mixes

The concept of limited edition products is not new, but it never fails to captivate customers. Target and Haribo’s special edition candy mix is an excellent example of how exclusivity can drive demand. Limited-time offers often create a sense of urgency, encouraging consumers to purchase the product before it disappears from shelves.

This exclusive mix stands out not only because of its delicious flavors—raspberry and pineapple—but also because of the fun shapes. The Bullseye mascot, Target logo, and shopping cart shapes add a playful twist, making the candy more than just a treat but also a collectible item. Such unique products are likely to attract both loyal customers and new ones who are eager to try something special.

Collaborations like this one are beneficial for both brands. For Target, teaming up with Haribo enhances its reputation as a retailer that offers exclusive, high-quality products. For Haribo, the partnership helps the brand reach a broader audience and boosts its visibility in the U.S. market. It’s a win-win situation that ultimately delights consumers.

From The Club

I love collaborations. I like it when two things that don’t usually work together, combine to create something utterly unique. The Haribo and Target collab is something I never thought we needed. They have a unique blend of flavors and it comes with really fun shapes! I think this is worth buying for the gummy shaped like Bullseye alone.
