The Story Behind Fuzzy’s Taco Shop
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is relatively new. But despite that, it still has a rich history that started with a pretty simple idea: serving delicious and affordable tacos in a fun and lively atmosphere. It all began back in 2003 in Fort Worth, Texas with Paul Willis and Chuck Bush. The very first Fuzzy’s opened as a small shack near Texas Christian University. It didn’t take long for it to become a popular spot among college students. They chose the name “Fuzzy’s” because it inspired the fun, eclectic vibe they wanted to bring to their restaurants. The brand’s commitment to fresh ingredients made it stand out. It didn’t hurt that their signature “Fuzzy’s Butt Burnin’ Hot Sauce” was pretty amazing too. All these combined to help set themselves apart in the crowded world of Tex-Mex.

Over the years, Fuzzy’s expanded going from a single taco shop to having over 150 locations nationwide. They went above and beyond its Texas roots and brought its unique style of Baja-inspired cuisine across the Unites States. Fuzzy’s continues to stay true to its original mission: serving up fresh, flavorful food with a side of fun.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop Making Headlines
In the past two years, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has made several exciting announcements that have kept fans eagerly visiting their local restaurants. In 2023, Fuzzy’s introduced a new line of breakfast tacos that became an instant hit, with options like the Brisket and Egg Taco and the Cheesy Potato Taco. These breakfast items were available at participating locations and were praised for their delicious and hearty ingredients.
Another notable mention in the news was Fuzzy’s collaboration with a popular craft brewery to create limited-edition beer pairings for their tacos. This collaboration brought a new level of flavor and excitement to Fuzzy’s menu, offering customers a unique dining experience. The limited-edition beers were only available for a short time, creating a buzz among customers and craft beer enthusiasts alike.
In late 2022, Fuzzy’s also rolled out a new rewards program, allowing customers to earn points for every purchase they made. This program was designed to show appreciation for their loyal fans and encourage repeat visits. Customers could redeem points for discounts on their favorite menu items, making it even more appealing to dine at Fuzzy’s.
A Fresh Take by Fuzzy’s Taco Shop
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has once again impressed its customers by unveiling three new Baja-inspired menu items, available for a limited time. These new dishes – the Cali-Style Steak Taco, Cali-Style Steak Burrito, and Birria Queso Fries – offer a fresh and innovative twist on traditional Mexican flavors.
The Cali-Style Steak Taco combines grilled steak with Fuzzy-Dusted fries, guacamole, pico de gallo, and pickled jalapeños. It is then drizzled with a house-made chipotle sauce and served on a warm flour tortilla. This taco blends classic ingredients with the unique addition of fries, giving it a satisfying crunch and a burst of bold flavors.
Next, the Cali-Style Steak Burrito takes the same great ingredients and wraps them in a grilled burrito. With shredded cheese and a house-made cilantro-lime crema, this burrito promises to be a flavorful and hearty meal. Both the taco and burrito highlight Fuzzy’s creativity in using fries instead of traditional rice and beans, offering a novel take on famous Mexican dishes.
Lastly, the Birria Queso Fries feature Fuzzy-Dusted fries topped with house-made birria beef, Fuzzy’s famous queso, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, and pickled jalapeños. This dish is served with a side of chipotle ranch for dipping, making it a delicious and shareable option for groups or a satisfying solo snack.
With these new additions, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop continues to showcase its commitment to bold, memorable flavors and unique dining experiences. Fans have until June 30, 2024, to try these limited-time offerings and enjoy a taste of Baja at their nearest Fuzzy’s location.
From The Club
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is pretty underrated in my opinion. They may not have the same kind of reach or brand recognition as something like Taco Bell or Del Taco, but their food can definitely keep up with the best of them. These new menu items are definitely ones to look out for. All of them sound good but I’m excited for the Cali-Style Steak Taco in particular.
