Ever since the original Shake Shack opened its doors in NYC’s Madison Square Park, it has been a favorite spot for both guests and their furry companions.
This month, Shake Shack is teaming up with the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show to celebrate the top dogs competing for Best in Show by offering FREE SmokeShacks throughout the week of the competition. Customers can redeem this offer by using promo code “BESTINSHACK” when placing a minimum $10 order at any U.S. Shack between May 10 and May 19.
In the spirit of rooting for the underdog, Shake Shack is also running a second promotion. If one of the 165 dog breeds that have never won Best in Show clinches the title this year, Shake Shack will give away FREE Hot Dogs with any purchase on May 15, the day after the show.
For Shake Shack guests in New York, there’s an extra treat in store. On Friday, May 10, from 3-5pm, Shake Shack will be hosting a Yappy Hour event at the Madison Square Park Shack, featuring special guest Buddy Holly, the 2023 Best in Show winner! Attendees can also purchase tickets to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, and all proceeds from the dog-friendly event will be donated to Westminster’s Breed Rescue Initiative.

History of Hops and Hot Dogs
Shake Shack’s story began in 2001 with a hot dog cart in New York City’s Madison Square Park. Founder Danny Meyer aimed to create a community hub serving high-quality burgers and hot dogs in a park setting. The concept was a hit, and soon a permanent kiosk replaced the cart, eventually evolving into the first Shake Shack restaurant we know today.
Shake Shack’s commitment to quality and community remains a core value. They use fresh ingredients for their burgers, fries, and shakes, and their restaurants often host events that bring people together.

Barking Up the Right Deal: Free SmokeShacks and Hot Dogs
This year, Shake Shack is celebrating the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, which takes place from May 10th to May 14th. They’re offering two exciting promotions to show their love for all things canine:
- Free SmokeShacks for “Best in Show” Week: From May 10th to May 19th, Shake Shack is giving away a free SmokeShack with any purchase of $10 or more. The SmokeShack is their signature burger, featuring a juicy Angus beef patty, Applewood smoked bacon, and ShackSauce. To redeem this offer, all you need to do is use the promo code “BESTINSHACK” when placing your order through the Shake Shack app, online, or at any U.S. Shake Shack location.

- Free Hot Dogs for the Underdog: Here’s a fun twist! There are over 200 dog breeds competing in the Westminster Kennel Club Show, but only 35 breeds have ever won the coveted “Best in Show” title. Shake Shack is rooting for the underdog! If a breed that has never won before takes home the top prize on May 14th, Shake Shack will offer a FREE Hot Dog with any purchase on May 15th, the day after the show.
A Yappy Hour for the Big Apple
For Shake Shack fans in New York City, there’s an extra special event planned. On Friday, May 10th, from 3 pm to 5 pm, the original Shake Shack in Madison Square Park will host a “Yappy Hour” event. This dog-friendly gathering will feature a special guest – Buddy Holly, the champion pup who won Best in Show at the 2023 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! Attendees can also purchase tickets to the dog show itself, with all proceeds benefiting the Westminster Breed Rescue Initiative, a program that helps find homes for homeless dogs.
So, whether you’re a longtime Shake Shack fan or just looking for a fun way to celebrate the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, these deals are sure to put a smile on your face (and maybe a wag in your dog’s tail!).
From The Club
I’m glad there’s a fast food brand that’s making their promotions count by giving back to underserved communities like the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. We all have a soft spot for our dog besties, and I’m happy that Shake Shack takes the time to support and host dog events. It may just be a dog show for some, but having a big brand supporting it already goes a long way, especially in raising awareness for dog communities and kennels.
