Summer is the season when everyone becomes a bit more carefree. This is evident in Hopdoddy’s new line of handcrafted sodas, where the burger bar gives customers creative and flavor-packed beverage options. These new drink choices will come in the form of what the internet calls a “dirty soda.”

What exactly is a “dirty soda”? It’s a customized non-alcoholic soda drink that typically starts with a base of Coca-Cola or another soda, then gets a flavor boost from added syrups, creams, and sometimes even fruit juices. Hopdoddy’s has taken this viral trend and put their spin on it to give us:

Hopdoddy’s Handcrafted Dirty Sodas:

  • Cherry Dream: Coca-Cola with cherry syrup and cream
  • Frosted Fanta: Fanta with white chocolate syrup and cream
  • Strawberry Bliss: Sprite with strawberry syrup and cream
  • Velvet Cream: Barq’s Root Beer with vanilla syrup and cream
  • Dr. Coco: Dr. Pepper with coconut, lime, and cream

The dirty soda is a fun way to experiment with flavors and create personalized drinks that capture the carefree spirit of summer. So, for those who want to make their drink even “dirtier,” Hopdoddy is taking it a step further by offering the option to make these drinks “boozy” with a shot of Deep Eddy Vodka. This clever addition caters to a wider audience and adds another layer of fun to the “dirty soda” experience.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar’s Vice President of Marketing Jennifer Faren expressed her excitement about these new sodas, saying that blending flavors to create unique beverages is something the brand practices passionately. Faren said that she is confident that Hopdoddy fans will enjoy the brand’s new drinks, especially with the option to add on a bit of booze and the fact that the drinks are inspired by the dirty soda trend.

A Quick Look at Hopdoddy Burger Bar’s Beginnings

Hopdoddy Burger Bar first opened in Austin, Texas, in 2010. The founders wanted to create a burger place that uses fresh, high-quality ingredients and focuses on making everything from scratch so it could be a step above the rest. Did you know that they even grind their meat in-house?

The name “Hopdoddy” is a blend of “hop” from the beer they serve (a nod to the founders’ love of local breweries) and “doddy,” a slang term that’s used for a type of Black Angus cattle. This playful combination is a reflection of the brand’s great food and fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Today, Hopdoddy is known for its innovative and often quirky menu items. The brand’s specialty in delicious burgers, hand-cut fries, creative milkshakes, and more has led to multiple locations and a solid fanbase.

Are Dirty Sodas a New Thing?

If this is the first time you’ve heard or read about dirty sodas, it’s actually an old social media trend that originated in Utah and has been a popular practice there for a very long time. Dirty sodas only began to trend and go viral around 2020 to 2021, thanks to social media platforms like TikTok, where users have shared their creative dirty soda recipes. Hopdoddy’s take on the trend as reflected by their new summer drink menu suggests that the brand recognizes emerging food trends that can create unique dining experiences for its customers.

Hopdoddy’s Summer Dirty Sodas Menu is made possible through a collab with Coca-Cola. The flavored drinks are now available in-store only from July 3 to August 6. To see more of Hopdoddy’s menu offers, visit their official website and follow their social media pages.

From The Club

I’m not the biggest fan of Coke but I do like a good mocktail. So, I just might try Hopdoddy’s dirty sodas. Maybe Strawberry Bliss and Velvet Cream. The Frosted Fanta sounds interesting too. That one will probably taste like a fizzy orange creamsicle drink. No booze for me though, I’d like to appreciate the dirty sodas at their truest taste.
