Sonic is getting ready for the Total Solar Eclipse coming to North America on April 8, 2024, by creating a special treat called the Blackout Slush Float. It will be available for a limited time starting on March 25. People who buy the new Slush Float will get special glasses to watch the eclipse safely, as long as those glasses are still in stock.
The drink is a mix of cotton candy and dragon fruit flavors, and it’s all black to represent how dark it gets during an eclipse. It’s served with white soft serve ice cream and has blue and purple sprinkles on top that look like something from space. Sonic has even asked Terry Virts, a former astronaut, to give tips on how best to enjoy the eclipse. Seeing an eclipse is pretty special; it doesn’t happen very often.
If you want to try the Blackout Slush Float and see the eclipse at Sonic, make sure you pick up your glasses ahead of time. Plus, Sonic is offering Crispy Tender Wraps for $1.99 until May 5. These tasty wraps come in Hickory BBQ and Cheesy Baja flavors.
Sonic cares about education, too. They give part of their sales from drinks to help public schools through their SONIC Limeades for Learning program. Since 2009, they’ve given more than $27 million to support schools across the country.
So, don’t forget to mark your calendars for the eclipse and to try out Sonic’s Blackout Slush Float.
