Our Starbucks-inspired grilled cheese recipe brings the café right to your kitchen. Simple ingredients, easy steps, and voilà – a gooey masterpiece awaits. Perfect for a quick lunch or a cozy snack.

  • 2 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 2 slices white cheddar cheese
  1. In a small bowl, mix together butter and parmesan cheese.

  2. Spread one side of each slice of bread generously with the butter mixture.
  3. Place slices of mozzarella and cheddar cheese on the side of the bread without butter. If needed, tear the cheese slices to ensure they fit. Complete the sandwiches by topping them with the remaining bread slices.

  4. Warm a large skillet over medium-low heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet, browning them for 1-2 minutes on each side until the cheese melts. Keep the heat at a low to medium setting to allow the cheese to properly melt. Pro Tip: Speed up the melting process by covering the skillet with a cookie sheet!

  5. Remove grilled cheese from skillet, cut in half and enjoy immediately.

Starbucks’ grilled cheese features a mix of mozzarella and white cheddar. I opt for cheese slices for optimal melt level, though shredded cheese is also effective. White American Cheddar from the deli counter is my go-to, but American Cheese (I know it’s fake but I don’t care! haha), Provolone, Havarti, Fontina, and yellow cheddar are equally melty and fantastic choices.
