Sonic has always been one of the best places to go to for refreshments. They have a long line of drinks, shakes, slushies, and other iced or frozen treats that have proven to be some of the best. And this season, they look to extend their winning streak by releasing a new line of drinks.
So far, we’ve gotten amazing new items from Sonic when they released their Groovy Fries (which btw are available for only $1) and the Cheesy Bacon Sonic Stack. The summer is heating up and it’s about time we get a new set of drinks from Sonic Drive-in. Starting on July 1, 2024, Sonic will be launching a new line of refreshing beverages called the Flavorista Favorites menu. This menu contains six colorful drinks designed to specifically help you cool down during the hottest months of the year. Let’s take a look at each of them:
- Classic Cruiser: First up is the Classic Cruiser. This drink is a mix of cola with hints of cherry vanilla. Perfect for a hot summer day.
- Twisted Flamingo: Want something with a little more citrus? The Twisted Flamingo has lemon-lime, cherry vanilla, and sweet cream.
- Paradise Sunset: With flavors of blood orange and strawberries bursting in this drink, you can get a taste of a summer getaway.
- Rainbow Slush: Thanks to a frozen mix of blue raspberry, real strawberries, and lemonade, the Rainbow Slush is the tropical flavor you’ve been looking for.
- Lemonade Cream Cooler: Lemonade is a summer staple and what better way to enjoy it by turning it into a slush and blending it with creamy soft-serve?
- Grape Escape: Ever wondered what grape and lime would taste like? This bubbly mix has you covered and will definitely refresh you this season.
While it’s set to release on July 1, the Flavorista Favorites will debut at the X Games Ventura 2024, presented by Sonic, on June 28. Once they’re released, you can only order them through the Sonic app.

Ever since they came up with the unique intercom system that revolutionized the fast food industry, Sonic has always been in pursuit of innovation. They’ve released many classic menu items over the years and in 2024, we’ve seen them create some of the biggest fast food items. Here’s what’s new at Sonic Drive-in.
Groovy Fries
Fries are a fast food staple. They’ve been the perfect side dish to common fast food items since the dawn of the industry. We all know that fries are great and could actually make or break the success of an establishment. Which is why after 10 years, Sonic decided to make some changes to their classic fries. They recently debuted the new Groovy Fries along with the Groovy Sauce which were designed specifically to hold more flavor while retaining everything we love about French fries.
Cheesy Bacon Sonic Stack
Sonic is known for their sandwiches and the Cheesy Bacon Sonic Stack feels both new and familiar. It won’t feel out of place with Sonic’s line of sandwiches while introducing something new to their menu. It’s essentially a burger but made with Sonic’s signature Texas Toast. It’s made with an all-beef seasoned patty, topped with crispy bacon, and two slices of American cheese along with crinkle-cut pickles, diced onions, ketchup, and mayo.

Seasonal items are a fun and exciting way to introduce new menu items to customers. Which is why every season, most fast food chains will release new drinks or new food that would fit the current trends. Sonic has no shortage of amazing seasonal items. Let’s look at two of the best most recent ones that have since been removed from their menu.
Orange Cloudsicle Slush Float
There’s a lot of orange flavored drinks or frozen treats out there lately but Sonic’s Orange Cloudsicle Slush Float still managed to stand out. Made with orange cloudsicle flavored slush, Sonic’s vanilla soft serve, and orange-vanilla flavored boba, this drink/dessert was very popular as a pre-summer favorite. It combines a refreshing citrus flavor with a creamy aftertaste thanks to the soft serve.
Turtle Truffle Nut Blast
Let’s rewind a little bit and check out this dessert from Sonic’s fall menu lineup last year. The Turtle Truffle Nut Blast is basically vanilla ice cream swirled with caramel, chocolate, and praline toasted almonds. It’s both salty and sweet at the same time plus the crunchiness was a great addition to its texture.

We all love a good set of drinks! Summer is the hottest season of the year and I’m just glad there’s a ton of refreshing beverages out there to choose from when you just want to cool down. Sonic Drive-in is the latest fast food chain to release a new set of drinks for the summer. The Flavorista Favorites definitely sound good, and the Rainbow Slush is right at the top of my must-try list.
