Let’s Dive Deeply Into The Vault

Who could have thought that Taco Bell would bring back some of their iconic food items from decades ago? It’s rare for fast food restaurants to bring back discontinued items, especially when there’s little demand. Luckily, Taco Bell is on top of the game as they bring back discontinued food items, even from decades ago. Let’s dive deeper into the five food items that they are testing in select California locations.

First up, we have Taco Bell’s Tostada, which quickly became one of their well-known menu items when they first opened their doors in 1962. If you don’t know what a Tostada is, it’s a crispy shell topped with refried beans, red sauce, and shredded cheese, much like the Cheeze-It Tostada, which has a huge Cheez-It cracker as its shell.

Next up, we have the Green Burrito, which was one of Taco Bell’s most popular items back in the 70s. If you’re from that era, you may remember this wrap filled with tomatillos, jalapeños and other spices. The special menu item is the green sauce that is smothered in the wrap filling. It’s made out of green chili, which explains its color.

If you were from the 80s, you may remember the iconic Maximelt wrap. It blends pica de Gallo and seasoned beef tortilla in a three-cheese melt. This treat has been part of the Taco Bell menu for nearly 30 years but was discontinued in 2018.

If you’re a 90s kid, you might remember the Beef Gordita Supreme. It’s an older version of the Cheesy Gordita Crunch. This wrap features seasoned beef, lettuce, and tomatoes with a three-cheese blend. It is smothered in sour cream for a taste balance.

Don’t forget to save room for dessert. Taco Bell is bringing back the Caramel Apple Empanada from the 2000s. This dessert has an apple filling and creamy caramel. It’s wrapped in fried dough coated with cinnamon sugar, like an empanada. This treat was discontinued in 2019, so now’s the perfect chance to try it if you haven’t!

Taco Bell is Testing A Crunchy Slider in Ohio

Do you remember those crunchy slider wraps you had at Taco Bell back in 2014? If yes, then you know about the Crunchwrap Sliders made with ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream, all inside a crunchy tostada. Along with this classic crunch wrap, Taco Bell also adds a Steak & Queso version for you to try. If you live near Cleaveland and Akron, you’re lucky as you get to try the Crunchwrap Sliders!

From The Club

One of my favorite things to watch on YouTube is discontinued food items, and it’s rare for me to hear about a decades-old menu item going back. It’s a good thing that Taco Bell has a vault of menu items that they have served since their opening in the 1960s. I’m excited to try the Maximelt and Beef Gordita Supreme as a cheese lover! I do hope that Taco Bell releases them nationwide so that more fans can enjoy these nostalgic treats.
