Taco Bell adds to the list of amazing food-related launches and deals to look forward to this summer. The Mexican fast-food chain is preparing to officially roll out a new menu item that the brand previously introduced and tested last year. The new—or should we say “returning”—item is the Street Chalupa. The release of this chalupa will coincide with DoorDash’s fifth-annual DashPass summer event that will kick off on June 20th.

The five-week savings event offers exclusive discounts, deals, and prizes to DoorDash members—one of which will include a discounted promotion for Taco Bell’s new Street Chalupas. The deal is that as long as your order amounting to $25 or more includes at least one of Taco Bell’s Street Chalupas, you will be entitled to a discount of $8 off at checkout.
This $8 discount is scheduled to come around during the Summer’s Final Splash, from July 18 through July 24, 2024. While no exact date has been explicitly announced for the Street Chalupa’s launch, DoorDash’s DashPass event strongly suggests that the new Taco Bell item’s official nationwide drop will be on July 18, as it is when the Street Chalupa will become available for purchase.
What’s Inside the Street Chalupa?
The return of the Street Chalupa will feature melted pepper jack and mozzarella cheeses, which binds together two crunchy chalupa shells. For the filling inside the shells, customers can choose between shredded chicken or marinated grilled steak. Finishing toppings will include a jalapeño ranch sauce, diced fresh onions, and fresh cilantro. During its testing phase back in late 2023, it was known as the “Cheesy Street Chalupa” and was priced between $5.49 and $5.99, depending on the location.

Other Popular Chalupa Creations from Taco Bell
If you didn’t get the chance to try the Street Chalupa back when it was being tested, there is reason to be excited for its comeback. Taco Bell has had a successful streak with its various chalupa creations and based on online reviews, these are the three highly rated chalupas from the brand:
The Chalupa Supreme: A current Taco Bell menu item, the Chalupa Supreme features a perfect blend of seasoned beef, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and a three-cheese blend all inside a folded-up fried chalupa dough. Its satisfying flavors make it a go-to choice for many customers.
The Toasted Cheddar Chalupa: Released for a limited time back in 2019, the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa received raving reviews for its cheesier-than-cheesy take on the classic version. It had cheddar cheese that was toasted onto the outside of the shell, adding a crispy texture that complemented the usual chalupa filling well. Customers loved it so much that there is even a petition on change.org to bring it back.
The Naked Chicken Chalupa: Another item that had a limited release, the Naked Chicken Chalupa featured a crispy fried chicken shell that was filled with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and avocado ranch sauce. The folded chicken shell in place of the traditional fried chalupa bread provided a unique and flavorful experience that customers really enjoyed, with some saying that it was the best item on Taco Bell’s menu at the time.
There have been a number of other successful chalupas from Taco Bell as well but the versions above appear to be three of the best among all of them according to reviews. So there is reason to believe that the upcoming Street Chalupa could be another hit that fans will surely love. Check out Taco Bell’s current product offers by visiting their official website.

From The Club
The Street Chalupa sounds really good but I didn’t get to try it when it was still being tested out. I’m wondering how it might compare to the Naked Chicken Chalupa and the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa because those were in a league of their own. But if anything, I’m hopeful that this new chalupa will have its unique appeal, considering that it was brought back. I’m excited to taste and see for myself if it’ll be worth frequent visits to my nearest Taco Bell.
