Slushies and frozen beverages are some of the best cooling treats you can have in the summertime. Their icy texture and refreshing flavors provide instant relief from the heat, making them a popular choice for both kids and adults. KFC recognizes this and now they’re testing some at select outlets in Lexington and Central Kentucky.
This Summer, KFC adds to fans’ must-try beverages with three test Frozen Slush Drinks in MTN Dew Sweet Lightning, Blue Raspberry, and Blackberry Lemonade flavors. Let’s take a closer look at what each one offers:

- Frozen MTN Dew Sweet Lightning: This slushie features the taste of sweet peaches with hints of honey.
- Frozen Blue Raspberry: A classic flavor known to turn your tongue blue, this icy treat offers the tart and sweet blue raspberry flavor that we all know and love.
- Frozen Blackberry Lemonade:Â Combines the tart and sweet taste of blackberries with tangy lemonade in a cooling, icy form.
The brand didn’t mention if these drinks are only going to be available for a limited time, but if you live near the test locations, you can confirm this directly with the outlet.

Other Summer Drinks to Try at KFC
KFC recently released a Tropical Passionfruit Drink menu that features four refreshing beverages that mix passionfruit with familiar drinks like soda and iced tea, making each one perfect for the hot summer season. If you haven’t had the chance to try them yet, here’s what you might be missing out on:

- Starry Lemon Lime: A crisp lemon-lime soda enhanced with the vibrant, tropical notes of passionfruit, creating a sparkling beverage that’s sure to cool you off on a warm day.

What Else Has KFC Been Testing
KFC has been doing a lot of market tests with very promising results. Some of these are:
The Chicken Quesadilla: KFC’s take on a Mexican classic, these quesadillas have shredded KFC fried chicken, the brand’s signature gravy, and a melty cheese blend. That might sound like it’s going to be weird, expecially to those who are used to normal quesadillas, but fan reviews say that it works and is actually really good. But since this has been out a while, some outlets have informed customers that the quesadillas will be going away soon. The KFC quesadillas can be found being tested in New Jersey, Connecticut, Tennessee, and New York.
The New Chicken Tenders: KFC has been testing these tenders since October 2023 and has since been getting positive reviews. Described as featuring a zesty and peppery comeback sauce, KFC’s new tenders are battered and seasoned with Colonel Sander’s secret herbs and spices and then pressure-fried to give them a crispy exterior. There is a theory that these might soon replace KFC’s current crispy tenders, but we’ll have to wait for further official news to confirm this. The most recent test was done in West Palm Beach, Florida.
There hasn’t been official follow-up news where the brand has announced ongoing tests for these items, so if you’re curious and want to try them, visit KFC’s official website or follow their social pages to stay up-to-date on the brand’s current products tests and menu offers.
Remember, it’s not mentioned whether the new Frozen Slushies from KFC are limited menu items, but since they are released for this summer, it is highly likely that they won’t be here for long. So, if you live in the Lexington or Central Kentucky area and you want to try these new icy treats from the brand, best to go now and enjoy these drinks while you can.

From The Club
Sipping on a slushie always gives me a healthy dose of nostalgia. It takes me back to my highschool days, which was really the only period in my life that I had and enjoyed slushie drinks like ICEEs or Slurpies from 7-Eleven. I don’t know this is just me, but I feel like seeing KFC come out with slushies is a different and bold move for the brand. I’m just surprised that they didn’t include a Colonel’s Iced Tea Frozen Slush. Then again, is iced tea slushie even a thing?
