When was the last time you watched horror movies? Well, it’s time to arrange a horror movie marathon sleepover with your friends, as Voodoo Doughnut has got your midnight munch covered.
Voodoo Doughnut is about to bring the Halloween season on a hot summer day with the release of their new Spooky Summer Half Dozen, which features a whimsical world of summerween you can’t resist!
The Spooky Summer lineup includes the following:
- Brain Squeeze – A purple monster-like donut that features a tropical fruit punch filling and candy crunch brain bits. The top of the donut is decorated with purple and white icing for an added chilling effect.
- Beach Crawler – Forget creepy crawlers because this summer, Voodoo Doughnuts will serve us a Beach Crawler doughnut, which is smothered in cinnamon sugar dust and filled with voonilla frosting. The spider topping features a golden cookie and pink frosting for its eyes and legs.
- Watermelon Jack-O-Lantern – This doughnut is the perfect summerween option as it features a refreshing, juicy watermelon frosting. Jack-O-Lantern’s face is decorated with lime green sprinkles for a candy effect.
- Voodoo Doll – This scary voodoo doll is dipped in rich chocolate frosting, filled with raspberry jam, and decorated with frosting swimwear.
- I Scream Cone – I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! This donut would send chills down your spine with its sweet cinnamon-covered base and rich maple frosting top. For a crunch effect, the doughnut is sprinkled with summerween colored candies.
- Diablos Rex – Features a decadent chocolate base doughnut topped with strawberry frosting and sprinkled with chocolate chips.
The validity of the donuts is from July 25- July 31, 2024. Get them while they are baking at all Voodoo Doughnut locations nationwide.

What’s The Creepy Buzz Around Voodoo Doughnuts?
Voodoo Doughnuts was founded by friends and entertainment-oriented Portlanders Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon. All they wanted was to open a doughnut shop since there was none in downtown Portland. Soon enough, they opened the first Voodoo Doughnut shop in Old Town, where they specialized in both world-famous traditional and unconventional donuts.
Their shop was headed for success a month after they inaugurated it; they garnered national TV attention after they were featured in popular shows such as Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, MTV, and The Amazing Race. As of 2023, Voodoo Doughnuts has 19 locations across seven states. Fans have attributed their success to their imaginative and unique donut options. Some fans even asked for more expansions. With this, Voodoo Doughnut aims to expand their locations further to serve new customers.

- Bacon Maple Bar – A classic Voodoo doughnut fan- favorite featuring a raised bar with gold maple frosting and bacon on top.
- Voodoo Bubble – A doughnut topped with vanilla frosting and bubble gum dust. It is served with bubble gum on top of the donut hole.
- Ring of Fire – Devil’s food cake base smothered in cinnamon sugar, cayenne pepper, and red chili pepper.
- Banana Cream Pie – Featuring a donut filled with Bavarian cream, dipped in vanilla frosting and topped with cinnamon and banana chips.
- Strawberry Lemonade Stand – A doughnut drenched in strawberry frosting but filled with a lemon filling. It is topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and sour gummy.
- Grape Ape – A unique flavored doughnut with vanilla frosting, grape dust, and vanilla sprinkles.

Voodoo Doughnut definitely has that unique touch that no other donut shop has. They stuck to a creepy horror concept and created uniquely flavored donuts that attracted their customers. As for the Spooky Summer Half Dozen, I’m intrigued to try the Watermelon Jack-O-Lantern doughnut as I never had a watermelon-flavored doughnut, maybe this can be a change for my usual raspberry jelly donut? I’m also keeping an eye on the I Scream Cone and Diablos Rex flavors. I hope my city is included when Voodoo Doughnut decides to expand their location.
