Milk Bar’s Special Approach to Desserts

Founded by James Beard awardee and New York Times Best-Selling Baking Book author Chef Christina Tosi, Milk Bar (formerly Momofuku Milk Bar) had its start as a small bakery in New York City’s East Village back in 2008. Since its opening, it quickly grew into a go-to destination for unique and innovative treats.

Chef Christina Tosi’s special approach to baking has resulted in some iconic treats, such as her Compost Cookies and Cereal Milk Soft Serve. Milk Bar’s Compost Cookies are a mix of sweet and salty flavors that come from pretzels, potato chips, coffee grounds, and more. Cereal Milk Soft Serve, on the other hand, is inspired by the milk left at the bottom of a cereal bowl, which Chef Tosi had the clever idea of turning into an ice cream flavor. These treats are only two examples of the kind of innovations that happen in the Milk Bar bakeries.

Besides its flagship store in the East Village, Milk Bar also has other bakeries across the country, including in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Las Vegas. They also offer nationwide shipping which has allowed more people to experience Milk Bar’s special desserts and enjoy the brand’s treats wherever they are.

It’s also worth noting that Milk Bar is not just about selling desserts. They also offer online baking classes, allowing fans to try their hand at baking and effectively inspiring many home bakers to get creative in their own kitchens.

Whether you’re visiting one of their bakeries, ordering online, or trying one of their baking classes, Milk Bar treats make for a sweet escape from the ordinary. Christina Tosi’s baking style—embracing nostalgia while pushing the boundaries of traditional flavors—continues to inspire a new generation of bakers and dessert lovers in the country and around the world.

From The Club

I know orange creamsicle is a classic summertime flavor but I’m usually not a big fan of orange-flavored treats—I’d still eat it, don’t get me wrong, but I would go for a berry flavor if it’s available. However, this Milk Bar x Tropicana collab is one of those instances where I wouldn’t mind eating an OJ-flavored soft serve. It looks so good and refreshing that it might actually make me start liking orange-flavored desserts after all.
