Double Down Dog - KFC PH

Remember the Double Down? KFC released a burger made of pure fried chicken that took the internet by storm. In typical fashion, they managed to “double down” on the Double Down by coming up with more ways to replace bread with fried chicken. And thus, the Double Down Dog was born. Back in 2015, KFC Philippines solved the age-old dilemma of having to choose between having a hotdog or fried chicken. Despite its limited release, the Double Down Dog was a big success. KFC proved once more that they are the top dogs of fried chicken. No pun intended.

9. Burger King New Zealand The Meatatarian

The Meatatarian - Burger King

As if the Whopper didn’t have enough meat, Burger King in New Zealand decided to up the ante and just stuff all types of red meat into one sandwich. Enter the Meatatarian. Burger King released a set of meat filled burgers back in 2016. The Full Meaty, in particular, felt like it was a bit much. Featuring two beef patties, one chicken patty, and six bacon strips, this abomination of a burger is a vegan’s worst nightmare but a meat lover’s fantasy come true. Who would’ve thought that stuffing more meat to a Whopper would actually make it better?

Lobster & Caviar Burger - Wendy's JP

Wendy’s isn’t one to back down when it comes to their burger game. In 2012, they decided to make a splash and mix up the lowly burger with some of the fanciest ingredients the ocean has to offer. Thanks to record lows on the Lobster market, they took an ordinary sandwich and made it gourmet. Picture this, real chunks of Canadian Omar Lobster meat sandwiched between two buns along with lettuce, tomatoes, and a hefty sprinkle of caviar. Like most fast food items on this list, it was a limited-time offering. But despite this, Wendy’s Japan deserves props for classing up their burgers resulting in an unforgettable combo.

Of course, we can’t talk about over the top fast food without going back to KFC’s Double Down. This time, they stuffed a juicy beef patty right down the middle resulting in the meat madness known as the Zinger Double Down King. With two deep fried Zinger chicken filets serving as buns, KFC truly outdid themselves and created one of the unhealthiest sandwiches ever known that makes an average bacon cheeseburger look like the healthier option. When Popeyes opened their 3,000th restaurant, they decided it was cause for celebration.
