As if the Whopper didn’t have enough meat, Burger King in New Zealand decided to up the ante and just stuff all types of red meat into one sandwich. Enter the Meatatarian. Burger King released a set of meat filled burgers back in 2016. The Full Meaty, in particular, felt like it was a bit much. If you thought the Meatatarian had way too much meat but not enough cheese, this may be the perfect burger for you. When does a cheeseburger actually become a cheeseburger? This is a burning question that Burger King in Thailand wanted to answer. That’s when they had the brilliant idea of making the most real cheeseburger you could possibly think of. Containing an outrageous 20 slices of American cheese and zero meat, this cheeseburger may sound like an April Fool’s prank but I assure you, this is as real as a cheeseburger would get.
7. Wendy’s Japan – Lobster & Caviar Burger
Wendy’s isn’t one to back down when it comes to their burger game. In 2012, they decided to make a splash and mix up the lowly burger with some of the fanciest ingredients the ocean has to offer. Thanks to record lows on the Lobster market, they took an ordinary sandwich and made it gourmet. Picture this, real chunks of Canadian Omar Lobster meat sandwiched between two buns along with lettuce, tomatoes, and a hefty sprinkle of caviar. Like most fast food items on this list, it was a limited-time offering. But despite this, Wendy’s Japan deserves props for classing up their burgers resulting in an unforgettable combo.

Of course, we can’t talk about over the top fast food without going back to KFC’s Double Down. Taking things further, KFC took their classic all meat and no bun sandwich and actually made a proper burger. This time, they stuffed a juicy beef patty right down the middle resulting in the meat madness known as the Zinger Double Down King. With two deep fried Zinger chicken filets serving as buns, KFC truly outdid themselves and created one of the unhealthiest sandwiches ever known that makes an average bacon cheeseburger look like the healthier option. It just goes to show you that fast food chains are very open to pushing boundaries regardless if we actually need them to or not.
5. Pizza Hut Taiwan – No. 1 Salted Chicken Pizza
Pizza is a very easy food to mess with. You can just throw random toppings on, give it a wacky name, then call it a day. But this pizza place showed us that there’s actually a method behind their madness. Known for breaking tradition and their willingness to experiment with creative pizza toppings, Pizza Hut Taiwan comes up with what they call the No. 1 Salted Chicken Pizza. You got your usual base toppings that come with a pizza but instead of pepperoni and other cold cuts, you get Taiwanese Fried Chicken and Fried Squid Rings. It doesn’t end there. The pizza’s crust is stuffed with whole oreo cookies. Not crushed, not half, one whole oreo cookie on each slice. You read that right. Some people praised the bold move but a decent amount of people think it’s plain disgusting. Whichever side you stand with, you can’t deny that this is one over the top pizza.
4. Burger King Israel – SufganiKing Whopper
Also known as the Hanukkah Doughnut Burger, this genius fusion of tradition and fast food puts all other doughnut burgers to shame. By combining traditional jewish jelly filled doughnuts called sufganiya with your average Whopper, you are left with something truly unique. It has all the makings of Burger King’s classic Whopper but instead of your regular buns, they’re replaced with two halves of a jelly filled donut. Unlike the sufganiya, the SufganiKing Whopper’s doughnut buns are filled with ketchup. As Burger King Israel puts it, this burger “proves that miracles still happen.”
3. McDonald’s Thailand – Chili Paste Pork Ice Cream
Chili paste. Pork floss. And Vanilla ice cream. These things sound like they don’t belong together but McDonald’s menu Thailand had a different idea. What if we combined dinner and dessert into one sweet and spicy package? This highly unusual combination proves that sometimes you have to defy logic and convention to make something truly original. While it sounds disgusting, lots of customers actually enjoyed this unique offering courtesy of the golden arches. The soft serve Vanilla ice cream compliments the heat from the spicy chili paste and the pork floss adds a salty crunch that makes for a welcome savory surprise.

Pizza Hut Taiwan is just on another level when it comes to coming up with over the top pizzas. This pizza’s name literally lists down the unique toppings that they used. Chopped century eggs, cubes of pig’s blood cake, and a sprinkling of fresh cilantro. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Now, there have been plenty of gold coated fast food throughout the years. But we decided to go with Popeyes’ 24 Karat Champagne Wings. When Popeyes opened their 3,000th restaurant, they decided it was cause for celebration. And what better way to celebrate than to serve boneless chicken wings dipped in champagne and coated in 24-karat gold batter? Popeyes’ choice to upscale what some people would consider as lowbrow cuisine is a nice touch. Needless to say this is possibly one of the most over the top fast food items of all time.
