Have you ever been to Dairy Queen lately, took a look at their menu, and just wished they still had the Cotton Candy Blizzard? Or the Red Velvet Cake Blizzard? These days we could all use a bit of nostalgia. Just to remind us of simpler times.
Dairy Queen has been at the forefront of soft-serve ice cream in the fast food industry. Over the years, they’ve constantly innovated and showed off what they can do. They came up with tons of creative new flavors and made a spectacle of each new Blizzard they came up with. Which is why a lot of people are clamoring for the return of some of their special flavors. These discontinued flavors have a special place in our hearts which is why we compiled them on this list.
From fruity favorites to collaborations with other brands, these are 12 discontinued Dairy Queen Blizzard flavors that we need back.
12. Sour Patch Kids Redberry Blizzard

Released: July 2019
Let’s start things off with something more recent. Back in 2019, Dairy Queen teamed up with Sour Patch Kids to come up with the Sour Patch Kids Redberry Blizzard. Combining DQ’s creamy Redberry-flavored soft serve with pieces of Sour Patch Kids Bitz, this Blizzard perfectly blends sweet and sour flavors in one dessert. It’s the perfect example of Dairy Queen’s innovation and their ability to just bring things together. Too bad this limited-time release was only available for a short time. It was pretty well-received though so there’s hope that DQ and Sour Patch Kids can team up again in the future. Bringing this item back would be great but coming up with something entirely new would be even better.
11. Hawaiian Blizzard

Released: 2000s
What if I told you that there was a Blizzard flavor that tastes exactly like a tropical vacation in a cup? That’s right! Back in the day, Dairy Queen had the Hawaiian Blizzard. Paced with chunks of pineapple, swirls of coconut, and even a hint of banana, this Blizzard will make you feel like you’re on an island getaway with every bite. The vibrant yellow color also adds to that beach vibe it has going for it. Really, the only thing missing here is the little umbrella that usually comes with beach drinks. It’s a perfect summer treat to beat the heat. It was discontinued though but we’re hoping that someday we’ll see the Hawaiian Blizzard back at DQ. Who knows, maybe we’ll see it on one of their summer menus in the future.
10. Very Cherry Chip Blizzard

Released: 2022 (Seasonal)
Here’s a Blizzard that wasn’t too flashy but it hit all the right spots. Cherry is one of those classic fruit flavors that just go really well with ice cream. Dairy Queen understands this really well so they came up with the Very Cherry Chip Blizzard. It’s made with a creamy vanilla soft serve studded with dark chocolate chunks, then swirled with a vibrant cherry flavor and bursting with bits of real cherries. It was sweet, creamy, and crunchy all at the same time. It’s one of those Blizzard flavors that you enjoyed when you want something familiar and delicious. It’s a timeless flavor combo that really should have a permanent spot on DQ’s menu.
9. Lemon Meringue Pie Blizzard

Released: July 2013
Dairy Queen has a rotation of different Blizzard flavors to keep things fresh and interesting. Every now and then, they’d add a classic pie flavor and mix it up with their Blizzard. One of the best ones they came up with was the Lemon Meringue Pie Blizzard. We don’t see citrus flavors mixed with creamy soft-serve too often but when done right, it’s an amazing mix of flavors and texture. That’s exactly what happened with the Lemon Meringue Pie Blizzard. It’s basically a creamy vanilla soft-serve with a tangy twist thanks to the lemon pie fillings. It also has a bit of crunch thanks to the addition of crunchy pie crust pieces. It’s quite literally like eating a deconstructed lemon meringue pie except it’s colder and creamier. This is another one of DQ’s discontinued Blizzards that would feel right at home on a summer menu. Fingers crossed that we get to see it back again.
