Crunch into Flavor Zaxby's Asian Zensation Zalad is Back

One of the most loved limited-time offers at Zaxby’s has returned along with a side made more delicious with a sweet and spicy sauce.

After reshaping supermarket shelves, Asian flavors are now taking the restaurant world by storm. And that’s to be expected, because with Asian food, you get bold flavors ranging from spicy, garlicky to tangy. Adding more spices, herbs, and condiments also gives you variations of Asian flavors. To serve diners’ evolving preferences, Zaxby’s is bringing back its popular Asian salad that packs a lot color and crunch. Flavor-wise? It has a little bit of everything!

Zaxby’s has welcomed back its Asian Zensation Zalad, along with the Veggie Egg Rolls that can be enjoyed as a side or as a snack on its own. The Asian Zensation Zalad is known for being crunchy and flavorful, thanks to its fresh mixed greens, carrots, and red cabbage. The salad also goes beyond veggies. It can also include cuts of marinated Grilled Chicken or Fried Chicken Fingez as a topping. Other toppings are:

  • Housemade Asian slaw
  • Crispy wonton strips
  • A drizzle of honey-sesame glaze infused with teriyaki flavors

The Asian Zensation Zalad is also served with a Citrus Vinaigrette made with orange, pineapple, sesame, and ginger. With the Veggie Egg Roll on the side, it has a suggested price of $10.99. It hasn’t been disclosed if there’s going to be a Garden Version, which has a lower price because the chicken is removed from the mix. Depending on the choice of protein, the salad has 530 to 680 calories.

Additionally, the Veggie Egg Rolls can be ordered as an a la carte item. Two of these make a perfect snack alongside Zaxby’s Sweet and Spicy dipping sauce, clocking in at 370 calories. The rolls give a crispy bite of wonton wrappers filled with seasoned shredded vegetables. A two-piece order with the Sweet & Spicy sauce costs $2.79.

More Asian Flavors for You to Try

Looking for more Asian-inspired food to try? I got you covered. Amid the rise of Asian flavors, latest food news recently featured restaurant brands Moe’s Southwest Grill and Jack in the Box as they released new bold-flavored menu items. Let’s take a closer look at these offerings:

Chili Crisp Chicken at Moe's

  • Moe’s Chili Crisp Chicken: What’s so Asian about this item is the condiment used: Mr. Bing’s Chili Crisp Sauce. It has slightly spicy and savory flavors, thanks to the combination of mushroom powder, garlic, onions, and four types of pepper. The Asian sauce gets mixed with Moe’s classic Adobo Chicken, creating a delicious fusion of Asian and Mexican flavors. The Chili Crisp Chicken can be added to your burrito or burrito bowl with no additional cost.
  • Jack in the Box’s Crispy Chicken Ramen Combo: Available only in San Diego, California, this meal features a savory chicken-flavored ramen with crispy chicken strip on the side. It’s far from the authentic Japanese ramen, but definitely worth the try if you’re looking for something to warm you up. This hot noodle dish is set to become a popular option as we transition into the winter season.

Speaking of ramen, Del Taco was the first quick-service restaurant to serve ramen lovers. It released the Shredded Beef Birria Ramen last year, which featured a stew made with braised and spiced beef. In 2023, White Castle also published Asian-inspired recipes that made use of their sliders as the base. For instance, the Banh-Mi sliders featured White Castle’s Jalapeño Cheese Sliders plus pickled veggies and Sriracha mayo.

From The Club

I can see why Zaxby’s Asian Zensation Zalad has won the hearts of many. I haven’t had it before but judging by the looks of it, the Asian flavors are well-defined. I also love that they’re adding some protein in there, and I would love to have mine with the marinated Grilled Chicken. It only gets better with the addition of Veggie Egg Rolls. I’m pretty sure I can eat those as a snack but they do complete the Asian Zensation Zalad. Everything looks like an epic assembly of healthy and fresh food!
