Fall Is When These 7 Louisiana Pumpkin Patches And Corn Mazes Get Really Fun

Louisiana does not get much of a chill in October, but the farms sure act like it. All over the state, fields fill up with pumpkins, hay bales, and tall rows of corn just waiting to be explored.

This list covers seven spots, from Shreveport down to the River Road, where a simple pumpkin run can turn into a whole day of trailer rides, mazes, and photo stops. Save it now, because weekends go fast once the season starts.

1. CM Farms | Louisiana Pumpkin & Strawberry Fest, Dry Creek, LA

Some farms do one season well. CM Farms in Dry Creek opens its gates in spring for strawberries, again at Christmas, and in fall for its Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festival.

The fall lineup covers a lot of ground. Expect trailer rides, face painting, festival food, a gift area, plenty of farm activities, and a corn maze that gets a lot of attention around Southwest Louisiana.

I would save this one for a full Saturday rather than a quick stop. There are enough photo spots and attractions to fill the afternoon, and kids rarely run out of things to try.

Plan around the schedule, since the farm is closed Monday through Friday. Hours run 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and 10 AM to 5 PM on Sunday, and parking is free in the on-site lot at 252 CM Farms Rd.

2. Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch, Hammond, LA

Ten dollars a person, and a pumpkin goes home with you. That simple deal at Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch in Hammond is a big part of its charm.

The grounds are roomy, with pumpkins spread throughout the property instead of piled in one spot. Kids get to hunt for the right one while parents keep up.

Between pumpkin stops, there are hay bales lined up in rows for climbing, a horse-style ride made from tires, inflated bounce tarps, pumpkin painting, and a corn maze. There are also plenty of games for younger visitors.

Families can pack their own picnic and settle into the seating area, which keeps the budget friendly. The patch is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM at 11215 Lees Ln, so a weekday visit is possible too.

3. The Corn Maze, Shreveport, LA

Friday night plans in Shreveport can include getting a little lost on purpose. The Corn Maze on US-71 stays open until 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, which makes it a rare after-dark fall option in the area.

The season kicks off once the corn reaches full height. From there, the attractions are built for a wide range of ages, from toddlers to teens.

I like this stop for mixed-age groups, since older kids and little ones can both find their speed. The layout is meant for exploring, with new things to try around each turn.

Hours are Friday 10 AM to 10 PM, Saturday 3 to 10 PM, and Sunday noon to 6 PM. It is closed Monday through Thursday, and on-site parking is available at 8540 US-71.

4. Poche’s Patch & Maze, Lafayette, LA

Not every fall outing needs a full day. Poche’s Patch and Maze on Guilbeau Road in Lafayette keeps things easy, local, and right in town.

The spot is locally owned and open-air, with the focus on picking pumpkins. Little ones can work through a small hay bale maze, try the slides, and pose at the photo ops.

Weekday hours are short, from 3:30 to 6 PM on Thursday and Friday, which works nicely for an after-school stop. Weekends run 10 AM to 6 PM, and it is closed Monday through Wednesday.

Free parking is on-site at 930 Guilbeau Rd.

5. LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens, Baton Rouge, LA

Here is a twist on the usual farm trip: a botanic garden with a corn maze. The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens in Baton Rouge adds seasonal fall fun to grounds already known for about 5 miles of walking paths, a rose garden, and a wetlands area.

In autumn, the gardens become a family Halloween destination with a corn maze, hay rides, and a sunflower field. A harvest maze is part of the seasonal setup too.

Check the cost of the seasonal events before you go, since the maze carries a fee. Even so, the corn maze ranks as a highlight for many families.

Gates are open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM at 4560 Essen Ln, and restrooms are on site. Saturdays get crowded, so Sunday is usually the calmer pick.

6. Broadway Family Farms, Bastrop, LA

Porch decorating season starts in Bastrop. Broadway Family Farms sells pumpkins, mums, and square hay bales, so you can build a full fall display in one trip.

The pumpkin selection is varied, with plenty of shapes and colors to choose from. Prices stay affordable, which helps if you need more than one.

It is a cute little patch with lots for kids to do, and a concession stand keeps snacks close by. The farm also points visitors to its website for more details.

Hours are not listed in a fixed schedule, so call 318-789-2108 before heading to 8625 Dent Cockrell Rd. On-site parking is available.

7. Perilloux Pumpkin Patch – week days by appointment, Montz, LA

A trailer ride straight out to the field is the main event at Perilloux Pumpkin Patch. Families climb aboard, head into the patch, and choose their own pumpkin.

That old-school setup makes it a longtime fall tradition along River Road in Montz. It is simple, hands-on, and great for kids who want to do the picking themselves.

Weekend hours run 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Weekday visits are available by appointment, which is handy for school or group outings.

Call 985-652-3672 to set up a weekday trip. The patch sits at 17834 River Rd.

From Dry Creek to Montz, each of these farms gives fall in Louisiana its own flavor. Pick one close to home, or turn a few into a weekend road trip.
