Fall Weekends Are Made For Strolling These 7 Alabama Pumpkin Patches And Corn Mazes

Alabama does fall best on a farm, with a wagon full of pumpkins and a corn maze waiting to test your sense of direction. From the hills of North Alabama to the peanut fields of the Wiregrass, family farms open their gates each autumn for hayrides, petting zoos, giant slides, and plenty of pumpkin picking.

This list covers seven farms where a weekend stroll can easily turn into a full day outdoors. Some are famous for apple cannons and zip lines, while others keep things simple with a wagon ride and a field full of bright gourds.

A few even stay open late on Saturdays, so you can wander the maze after the sun goes down. Every stop here has its own personality, so you can pick the one that fits your crew.

Grab a jacket, round up the kids, and plan a weekend that ends with a pumpkin on the porch.

Few pumpkin patches in Alabama pack in as many ways to burn off energy as this Cullman County farm. The list of attractions reads more like a small fair than a quiet field.

Families can tackle the corn maze, ride a hay wagon, and pick from the pumpkin patch before moving on to two huge slides that grown-ups can enjoy too. There is also a tube slide, a corn kernel playground, a kids zip line, and a candy cannon.

The apple cannon is a fan favorite, though it costs extra, so plan your budget ahead. Farm animal feeding, a dog show, and carved log animals made with a chainsaw add even more to see.

Homemade fudge is on hand when you need a sweet break. After dark, the Goblin Glow gives the farm a nighttime twist.

Weekend hours run Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM and Sunday from 1 to 6 PM. The farm sits at 7066 County Rd 703, and on-site parking is available.

2. Helena Hollow, Helena, AL

Picking your own pumpkin feels a little more official when a tractor carries you out to the field. That ride is one of the signature moments at Helena Hollow, a relaxed family farm just south of Birmingham.

Pumpkins picked from the patch run about $3 each, which makes it easy to let every kid choose one. A small tip: carrying them back can be a workout with little ones, so a wagon or extra set of hands helps.

Beyond the patch, the farm spreads out with obstacle courses, train rides, pony rides, huge slides, zip lines, and a corn pit. A petting zoo and corn mazes round things out.

Parents will appreciate the free parking lot and changing tables. Helena Hollow is open Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM, at 5679 Hwy 17 in Helena.

3. Sand Mountain Corn Maze, Sardis City, AL

Night owls, this one is for you. On Saturdays, Sand Mountain Corn Maze stays open until 11 PM, which is late enough to make a maze run feel like a real adventure.

The farm sits on Cox Gap Road in Sardis City, a rural community up on Sand Mountain. Its corn maze is the star, and plenty of fans call it one of the best in the state.

Rides carry guests out to the pumpkin patch. The maze sits right beside the patch, but getting there means a walk on foot, so comfortable shoes are a smart call.

That setup makes it easy to pair the two activities in one trip. Pick a pumpkin, then wander into the corn.

Hours run Wednesday through Friday from 4 to 9 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 11 PM, and Sunday from 1 to 9 PM. On-site parking is available at 8420 Cox Gap Rd.

4. Aplin Farms, Dothan, AL

Sunflowers and pumpkins in the same trip is a combo that is hard to beat. Aplin Farms in Dothan offers both, along with a corn maze and hayrides, once fall rolls around.

Down in the Wiregrass, this working farm keeps the focus on agriculture. Kids can enjoy age-appropriate games and a petting zoo, while adults pick sunflowers for the kitchen table.

The on-site market is a big bonus. It is stocked with groceries, so you can grab some local goods before heading home.

I would save this stop for a Saturday morning, since the farm opens at 9 AM that day and runs until 6 PM. Sunday hours are 1 to 6 PM, with weekday afternoon hours Wednesday through Friday.

Find it at 2729 Co Rd 49 in Dothan, with a free parking lot on site.

5. CornDodgers Farm, Headland, AL

With a name like CornDodgers, you can guess the corn maze is a big deal here. This Henry County farm in the small town of Headland keeps its fall lineup simple and friendly.

Visitors can hop on a tractor and wagon ride, visit a small petting area, and find their way through the maze. The pumpkin patch rounds out a classic farm outing.

What stands out is the welcoming, small-town feel. The staff are known for being friendly, and the overall mood leans easygoing rather than crowded and loud.

Friday and Saturday hours stretch to 10 PM, which gives working families a chance to visit after dinner. Friday runs 5 to 10 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 10 PM, and Sunday 1 to 6 PM.

The farm is at 1555 Knowles Rd in Headland.

6. Hidden Rivers Farm, Hartselle, AL

Bubble battles are not something you see at every pumpkin patch. Hidden Rivers Farm in Hartselle mixes that playful extra in with the fall classics.

The Morgan County farm offers a corn maze, pumpkin picking, a petting zoo, pony rides, and a corn bin. Kids can also find inflatables, a playground, a small zip line, and apple cannons.

Food options are limited, but a lemonade stand and a picnic area make it easy to pack lunch and stay a while. Changing tables are available for families with babies.

Dog owners get a nice perk here, since dogs are allowed. That makes it a rare farm outing the whole household can join.

Weekend hours are 10 AM to 6 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. The farm is at 169 Goose Pond Rd, with a free parking lot.

7. Down On the Farm, Rainsville, AL

Orange is just the starting point at this Rainsville farm. The pumpkins here come in a range of bright colors, which makes choosing just one a fun challenge.

Up on the plateau in DeKalb County, Down On the Farm is strictly a weekend spot. It opens Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM.

A hay ride carries you out to pick your own pumpkin. Back at the farm, kids can try the slides, gopher roll, hay maze, tractor slide, swings, and corn pit.

Admission for the playground, corn maze, and pumpkin patch runs about $22 per person, so a family of three should budget around $70. It also works well for field trips and laid-back day dates.

The farm sits at 2257 Heaton Rd in Rainsville, a short drive from the rest of Sand Mountain.
