I want to share some important news if you love seafood. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has shared a warning, they are talking about some mussels that came from Allen’s Fisheries in Newfoundland, Canada.
Here’s what happened: There was a sickness outbreak – some people got sick like feeling really queasy, throwing up, and having an upset tummy after eating these mussels. This warning is about the mussels that were picked on February 7 from an area called AQ # 15 in Newfoundland. They were all gathered by February 18 and sent to some states like Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
What you need to know is that we shouldn’t eat these mussels. If anybody has eaten them and doesn’t feel good with signs like the runs, belly pain, feeling sick, throwing up, or a fever, they should tell their doctor.
For those who sell or cook food – like restaurants and stores – make sure to throw away these mussels. Use warm, soapy water to wash your hands and clean all kitchen tools that touched the mussels to keep everything safe.
And remember, it’s important to keep things clean so germs from shellfish don’t spread to other foods or places where food is made.
That’s all for now! Keep enjoying your meals, and let’s make sure to stay safe and informed!
