Hardee’s has the same iconic yellow star logo as another fast food restaurant, Carl’s Jr. Both chains share a complicated history, such as overlapping business deals. Let’s dive deeper into why both chains use the same smiling star logos.
Both businesses started as individual fast-food chains located on opposite sides of the country! Carl’s Jr., located on the East Coast, started out as a hotdog cart purchased by Carl and Margaret Karcher. After their business grew in the 1950s, the star logo was introduced, and a smiling face was added afterward.
Hardee’s, on the other hand, was founded two decades after Carl Jr. in North Carolina. Wilber Hardee founded the brand in 1960, offering 15-cent hamburgers, 10-cent fries, and 20-cent milkshakes.
Now, how did the two completely different restaurants share the same logo? Carl’s Jr. grew to become Carl Karcher Enterprises (CKE), and in 1997, they acquired Hardee’s. Soon enough, Carl’s Jr. began introducing their menu at Hardee’s, even changing the restaurant’s interior and signages to match Carl’s Jr.
