Hey there, friends!
I’ve got some important news for all of you who love to cook with cinnamon. La Fiesta Food Products, located in La Mirada, CA, is pulling some of their cinnamon off the shelves. They discovered that their Cinnamon Ground .87oz size might have some lead in it, which is not safe. This cinnamon was sold in California, Arizona, Washington, and Texas at different stores between April 20, 2023, and May 3, 2023.
If you’ve got this in your pantry, you should check it right away. Here are the details to help you find it:
- La Fiesta Brand Cinnamon Ground .87oz
- UPC#: 032327000449
La Fiesta found out about this problem after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tested the cinnamon and saw too much lead in it. If you bought this cinnamon, you shouldn’t use it. You can throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it to get your money back. If you feel sick or you’re worried about this, it’s a good idea to talk to a doctor.
Don’t know what lead is all about? Well, here’s a little info. Lead is a metal that can make you sick. Even a small amount might not show any clear signs you’re unwell. Sometimes, the only clue could be higher levels of lead in your blood. For young kids, too much lead over a long time can cause serious harm to their brains and learning. Adults can have other health problems like kidney issues or memory troubles.
If you need to ask more questions about the cinnamon or what’s going on, feel free to call La Fiesta at 408-326-0487 or email them at qualityassurance@lffp.com.
And that’s the scoop! Keep an eye on the foods you buy and stay healthy and safe.
Until next time, take care!
(Note: Just a reminder, this recall is just for this specific cinnamon product – not all cinnamon products. And don’t worry, there’s no subscription needed to learn about this food safety news!)
