Froyo lovers, here’s an interesting flavor you might want to check out!
Just in time for National Candy Month, HI-CHEW is collaborating with North America’s largest self-serve frozen yogurt place, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt! In case you’re unfamiliar with the HI-CHEW candy brand, it’s a chewy candy with different fruit flavors. Now imagine this chewy candy blended with froyo and tropical flavors for summer.
Introducing the new dreamy flavor of HI-CHEW Blue Hawaii Tropical Candy, which is inspired by HI-CHEW’s Blue Hawaii candy flavor from the fan-favorite HI-CHEW Fantasy Mix. This limited edition flavor is swirling at different Menchie’s locations nationwide for the month of June.

HI-CHEW’s Blue Hawaii was first released back in 2022 when they launched the Fantasy Mix. It quickly became a fan-favorite flavor due to the blend of sweet citrus and juicy pineapple into a chewy candy finish. Now, you can catch the tropical taste in Menchie’s new froyo flavor of Blue Hawaii Tropical Candy. What’s great about the flavor is that it’s nonfat and made with no artificial flavors, colors, or high fructose corn syrup.
Elizabeth Berry, VP of Marketing at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, said that they are looking forward to the HI-CHEW collaboration year after year, and they’re excited to bring guests an adventurous flavor for the summer.
Let’s Talk About HI-CHEW
We’re sure you’ve got some HI-CHEW candies in your bag, or you may have seen them around in groceries and convenience stores. These candies feature different fruity flavors such as strawberry, mango, grape, watermelon, and so much more. They even come in different varieties like sweet and sour, tropical mix, and soda pop.
It all started in 1930 when Taichiro Morinaga from Japan tried to create a new kind of candy inspired by chewing gum to market in Japan. Why? In Japan, taking food out of your mouth is considered impolite, so Morinaga wanted to create something that consumers could just swallow.
HI-CHEW boasts a sugar crystal control technology they’ve researched for years. There’s a high level of flavoring, plus soft texture properties, which are the biggest features of HI-CHEW. The technology also keeps you from tasting that juicy feeling that’s overflowing as you keep on chewing.
With that, Teruhiro Kawabe (Terry), Chief Representative for USA and President of Morinaga America Inc., shared that they’re always looking for new ways to connect with their consumers and bring their signature flavors in exciting ways, just like a froyo collaboration with Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt. He added that the launch of the new froyo flavor is the perfect example of how their brand continues to innovate and surprise their fans in unexpected ways.

Let’s Revisit the Old HI-CHEW Froyo Flavors
Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt has long been collaborating with HI-CHEW. Back in 2019, the brands first teamed up for the HI-CHEW Dragon Fruit flavored froyo.
Then in 2020, the brands unveiled the HI-CHEW Mango and HI-CHEW Passion Fruit, which you can enjoy on their own or swirled together to create a HI-CHEW Tropical Smoothie. In the same year for National Candy Month, the HI-CHEW Rainbow Sherbet flavor was born in celebration of the candy brand’s Fantasy Mix. The treat features a sweet and sour taste.

While in 2021, Menchie’s and HI-CHEW collaborated once again for a Raspberry flavored froyo. In 2024, it was the Key Lime Pie flavor’s turn. All of the flavored froyo features the same nonfat content with no artificial colors, flavoring, and no trace of high fructose corn syrup.

From The Club
A chewy candy blended in frozen yogurt? Yes please! I’m up for trying these unique takes, especially when HI-CHEW candies are in them. I find Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt’s HI-CHEW Blue Hawaii Tropical Candy to be an interesting flavor. Although I dislike candies mixed in whatever food, I’d trust this one since HI-CHEW is different in a way that they don’t use anything artificial.
