Few dining rooms in Nevada have been serving crowds as long as the Martin Hotel, which has been in business since 1898. Housed in a historic rooming house on West Railroad Street, it has become the go-to sit-down spot in this Northern Nevada crossroads town.

3. J T Basque Bar & Dining Room, Gardnerville, NV
Down in the Carson Valley, J T Basque brings the full old-west experience to the table. The storied Victorian building on U.S.
Highway 395 comes with an old-timey saloon bar and a dining room built for heaping family-style meals.
Come hungry, because the family-style format piles on unlimited sides. Menu standouts include the Lamb Shoulder Steak and a steak sandwich, along with Basque classics like the stew of the day and a hearty chorizo burger.
The portions are large and the prices stay reasonable, generally $20 to $50 per person. If you are not in the mood for the full spread, there are lighter burger, fish, and lamb chop plates.
It is open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and closed Sunday. Friday and Saturday evenings get busy, so reservations help, and there is usually plenty of free parking.
4. Cellblock Steakhouse, Ely, NV
Dinner behind bars sounds like trouble, but at the Cellblock Steakhouse it means one of the more memorable meals in eastern Nevada. The whole place is themed around an old jail, complete with cell-style booths that make for a genuinely one-of-a-kind setting.
Beyond the gimmick, the steaks earn the trip. Diners come for perfectly cooked ribeye and prime rib dinners that arrive with soup, salad, and baked potato, with a twice-baked potato that gets plenty of attention.
You will find it inside the longtime Jailhouse Casino property in Ely, an isolated mining and ranching town that does not offer many dinner options this good. Meals run about $50 to $60 per person.
Service is attentive and the room stays quiet and cozy. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m., closed Sunday, with reservations accepted.
Keep in mind the cell booths are snug on space.
5. Ormachea’s Dinner House, Winnemucca, NV
Ranch brands line the walls at Ormachea’s, and that detail tells you exactly what kind of place this is. It is a Basque-inspired steak house on Melarkey Street with a rustic, hometown feel that has kept Humboldt County families coming back for years.
Prime cut beef is the headliner. The ribeye comes out tender and cooked to a picture-perfect medium rare, and the kitchen also turns out prime rib, chicken Florentine, halibut, and a clam chowder worth ordering.
The atmosphere can dress up for a special occasion or stay relaxed for a casual night, and there is even a pool table. A banquet room with a private bar handles large parties.

6. Overland Restaurant, Gardnerville, NV
Stepping into the Overland feels like stepping back to 1902, the year its building went up. Right on the main road through Gardnerville in rural Douglas County, it blends classic American plates with Basque comfort food in a warm, rustic room.
The menu casts a wide net. There is a Steak Salad and an Elk Burger, plus a Salmon Bowl, fish and chips, beer-battered cheese curds, and fresh pasta, so it works for a quick lunch or a more upscale casual dinner.
Weekend mornings bring brunch starting at 10 a.m., and the sheltered outdoor patio even welcomes dogs. Prices are friendly, generally $20 to $30 per person.

7. Toki Ona, Elko, NV
Open from 6 in the morning until 9:30 at night, Toki Ona is the rare steakhouse you can hit for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Sitting on Idaho Street in the heart of Elko County’s ranching district, it has become a daily habit for a lot of locals.
The menu leans hearty and affordable, with most plates in the $10 to $20 range. Steak fans go for the Filet Mignon and the Chicken Fried Steak, while the pork chop, liver and onions, and a well-regarded Philly cheesesteak round things out.
Great coffee makes it a solid morning stop, and the atmosphere stays casual and cozy throughout the day. It is a genuine community eatery rather than a special-occasion room.
Toki Ona is open daily, seven days a week. There is a full bar, a kids’ menu, high chairs, free parking, and reservations are accepted for larger groups.
8. Dini’s Lucky Club Casino, Yerington, NV
In the quiet farming town of Yerington, Dini’s Lucky Club has been a fixture on North Main Street for generations. It is a relaxed, family-run, and historic casino, and the restaurant inside is what draws hungry ranch families in from the Mason Valley.
Steaks anchor the menu, backed up by an excellent buffet and generous portions of home-style cooking. The whole place carries a fun, 1960s-kitsch charm that has aged into part of its appeal.
Because it operates continuously in the middle of town, it doubles as a gathering spot as much as a dining room, with a bar onsite and a laid-back atmosphere.
