Colorado grows some seriously good apples, and a few farms have figured out how to turn that fruit into cider you can enjoy right where the trees are growing. Instead of grabbing a bottle off a store shelf, you can pull up a chair near the orchard and taste what the season actually made.
Some of these spots come with U-pick fruit, farm stores, live music, and cider slushies that draw families back every fall. Others are quiet taprooms with patios and orchard views.
I put together six of the best cider houses across the state, from the Western Slope to the Front Range, so you can plan a proper cider road trip. Save this list, because each stop offers something a little different.
1. Big B’s Delicious Orchards U-pick, Cafe & Tasting Room, Hotchkiss, CO
Few farm stops pack in as much as this Western Slope orchard along CO-133. You can pick your own cherries, peaches, apples, and pears, then settle onto the huge shaded patio with a glass of cider and a plate of food.
The kitchen leans into comfort food, with a pulled pork sandwich and a brisket sandwich among the highlights. There are healthy options too, plus a full vegan and vegetarian menu, so groups with mixed tastes are covered.
Cider is the star, and the fruit-forward lemonade ciders make it easy to see why people linger. Kids get swings and a playground, dogs are welcome inside and out, and the orchard grounds are open to walk through.
Some visitors even camp on the property.
Live music turns up regularly, giving the place a relaxed, festive farm feel. Hours run Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 8 PM and weekends from 9 AM to 8 PM.
Reservations are not accepted, but parking is usually plenty, and you will find it at 39126 CO-133 in Hotchkiss.
2. Talbott’s Farm Market & Taproom, Palisade, CO
Palisade is famous for its fruit, and this family-owned market and taproom sits right in the middle of that growing country. It pours cider made by Talbott’s Cider Company, produced straight from the farm’s own orchard harvests.
The setting is the draw. You are drinking house cider on a patio at a working fruit farm, with peaches and other fruit grown on the property, some available fresh-picked.
Inside it stays casual and quiet, with counter-style service rather than a full sit-down operation. Live performances pop up to keep things lively without turning the mood loud.
Hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 5 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM. Reservations are not taken, and there is free parking on site and on the street.
Look for it at 3782 F 1/4 Rd in Palisade, and give yourself time to enjoy the patio.
3. Acreage, Lafayette, CO
Perched on the hills just southeast of Coal Creek open space, this Stem Ciders destination trades the rustic farm stand look for a sleek, spacious taproom with big views. The layout gives you a taproom, a patio, and an orchard-side garden to choose from.
Cider fans will be busy here. The menu carries more than 20 ciders, including rotating seasonal pours and a flight of ciders built for sampling.
Food follows a Basque-inspired comfort theme, with the Acreage burger, duck confit poutine, soft pretzels, and vegetarian cider doughnuts among the standouts. There is a full vegan and vegetarian menu, plus a meat and cheese plate for grazing.
The space is family-friendly and set up for groups, with a fireplace inside and dogs welcome on the patio. Reservations are recommended for dinner since it gets busy, especially Saturday afternoon into evening.
Hours stretch late most nights, closing at 10 PM on Friday and Saturday. Find it at 1380 Horizon Ave A in Lafayette.
4. Red Mountain Ranches, Cedaredge, CO
Cider slushies are the signature move at this family-owned orchard and market along CO-65 in Cedaredge. The frozen apple cider version has become the reason a lot of people pull off the highway here.
The little store is packed with reasonably priced seasonal fruit, jams, veggies, kettle corn, and other homemade goodies. You will also find hard cider and Happy Hollow hard cider slushies on offer.
Ask about the cider and snack samples, which the farm is happy to share. It is a quick, easygoing stop rather than a long sit-down meal, so it fits nicely into a larger day on Grand Mesa’s Cedaredge apple country.
Because it sits on an active fruit-growing property, U-pick fruit is part of the experience when it is in season. Hours are daily from 1 PM to 5 PM, with on-site parking, curbside pickup, and in-store shopping.
The address is 19458 CO-65 in Cedaredge, and the homemade gifts make it easy to leave with more than you planned.
5. YA YA Farm & Orchard, Longmont, CO
Fall traditions run deep at this historic apple farm on Ute Highway, where families come back year after year for cider donuts and pie apples. The apple cider donuts have earned a serious local following, and they are worth building a trip around.
The country store is stocked with handmade goods, including fresh apple cider, apple cider vinegar, honey, jam, and salsa. Apple prices stay reasonable, and the fruit comes straight from the orchard out back.
Beyond the store, there is plenty to do. You can pick your own apples and flowers, feed the donkeys and horses, and take in the mountain views that make this corner of Northern Colorado feel special.
Because the store and grounds sit right beside the trees, you really are sipping cider next to where the apples grew. Hours vary by day, with the fullest schedule on weekends from 7:30 AM to 5 PM, and the farm is closed Mondays.

6. Di Nardo’s Cider Mill & Farm, Cañon City, CO
Cherry cider is the claim to fame at this longtime cider mill in Cañon City, and it has been a local favorite for generations. Sitting in Fremont County’s historic apple-growing valley, it keeps things simple and focused on the fruit.
The store is laid-back and stocked with homemade cider and juices, plus jams, jellies, and other canned goods. Great produce rounds out the shelves, and the unusual finds give browsers plenty to explore.
What sets it apart is the sheer selection of ciders and juices, made right on the farm and mill property. You can pick up bottles to take home or grab a drink and snacks on site.
It is a quick visit rather than a hangout, which makes it an easy add-on before or after a trip out to the nearby Royal Gorge area. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM and Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM, with paid parking on site.
