McDonald’s and Dunkin’ are joining the Halloween bucket challenge this year! Where would you like to get your spooky bucket of treats?
If there’s one activity that the whole family will love during the spookiest time of the year, it’s munching on sweet treats straight from a Halloween bucket! Of course, that’s besides watching classic horror films and going trick-or-treating. There’s actually a lot of Halloween fun to unwrap and it’s about to get more thrilling! Giant restaurant brands are planning to unveil their Halloween buckets next week and others have already released their spooktacular menu items. Here’s every restaurant with a limited-time bucket offering that will put you in the Halloween spirit.

McDonald’s Happy Meal Boo Buckets
McDonald’s Boo Buckets that were first introduced in the 80s are making a return this October 15, 2024. The Halloween pails will replace the traditional Happy Meal packaging and can also serve as containers for your actual trick-or-treating. Additionally, McDonald’s Boo Buckets will come with stickers, allowing for customization. The buckets themselves will have the following colors: orange, white, green, and blue.
So how can you get your hands on these buckets? Simple. Just order any of these Happy Meal menu items in-store or online to get your own Boo Bucket:
- Cheeseburger or Hamburger meal
- Chicken Nuggets meal (4-count)
- Chicken Nuggets meal (6-count)
Dunkin’s Halloween Munchkins Bucket
A day after the release of McDonald’s Boo Buckets, Dunkin’ will drop its new Halloween Munchkins Bucket. This adorable purple-colored bucket can hold up to 50 munchkins. There were also reports that the bucket will be sold separately for $2. What’s even more exciting is the assortment of treats you could get! This will include chocolate munchkins and a new sprinkled-covered variation.
Along with the Halloween Munchkins Bucket, Dunkin’ will be releasing other deliciously hunting treats. The lineup includes Potion Macchiato, an espresso-milk blend with purple marshmallow ube flavor, and the returning Spider Specialty Donut in a matching purple hue. If you still want the classics this spooky season, check out Dunkin’s Frosted Donuts in the flavors of Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry. They will also get a makeover, covered with a blend of orange and chocolate sprinkles.
Tim Hortons’ Timbits Trick-or-Treat Buckets

The Halloween spirit has arrived early at Tim Hortons, so yes, you can already get their Timbits Trick-or-Treat Buckets, available in two, new glow-in-the-dark designs! You can purchase these buckets with or without Timbits, but if you choose the former (which I recommend), you can fill them with your choice of 31 Timbits for $10.99. If you’re wondering why 31, it’s because the month of October has 31 days. Until the last day of the said month, you can have your Timbits bucket refilled for only $6! Pretty sweet deal, right?
Auntie Anne’s Twist or Treat Bucket
Auntie Anne’s has a limited-time offer that’s all delight and no fright: the Twist or Treat Bucket. Fans can get this bucket with their favorite flavor of soft Pretzel Nuggets, and then reuse the bucket for trick-or-treating. The bucket also comes with a handle for added convenience.
The Twist or Treat Bucket is being offered in celebration of Auntie Anne’s collaboration with Spirit Halloween for the creation of the Adult Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Nuggets Cup Costume. The costume has been called “pretzel-perfect,” and is a great option if you want to look tasty enough to rock your next Halloween costume party!
Again, the Halloween buckets from McDonald’s and Dunkin’ are yet to arrive. If you’re already hungry for haunting treats, get the ones from Tim Hortons and Auntie Anne’s. Trying them all is also a nice item to add on your bucket list (pun intended 🤣).
More Restaurant Deals This Spooky Season
We’re not done yet with all the Halloween fun, because a lot more restaurants are ready to give you all treats and no tricks. One of them is Krispy Kreme, the close rival of Dunkin’. While the bakery company doesn’t have its own bucket, it has released the Ghostbusters collection featuring four ghostly good doughnuts. They’re also running a promo of $2 Original Glazed Dozen when you buy any dozen at a regular price. This promo is up until tomorrow, October 13, only.
Meanwhile, Burger King fans are raving about its limited-time Addams Family Menu. It includes items that represent the spooky nature of each family member, such as the Wednesday Whopper with a purple-colored bun and Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake with black and purple cookie pieces.
For a fun Halloween tradition, Chipotle also brought back Boorito. This in-restaurant celebration encourages guests to wear Halloween costumes from 3PM up to closing time so they can get a discounted entree offer. Not sure which costume to get into? Check out Chipotle’s first costume collection in collaboration with Spirit Halloween. The collection includes five costumes inspired by popular memes linked to both brands.

What’s Next After Halloween?
After Halloween comes the merriest season of the year. You better watch out and you better not cry, because special deals will continue to pour in. For instance, Starbucks Holiday Menu lineup is already the talk of the town. There’s no official announcement about it yet, but it looks like we’re getting new holiday beverages, such as the Chestnut Praline Latte and Cran-Merry Orange Refresher. New festive pastries like the Penguin Cookie and Cranberry Bliss Bar have been rumored to be released in early November.

Dunkin’ may have also started putting together its holiday menu as speculators are expecting the brand to release its new Holiday Cookie Signature Latte as part of the beverage menu category. Holiday food items like the Almond Croissant and Hash Brown Brisket Scramble are also among the new items we can expect.

From The Club
The Halloween season is never complete without the spooky buckets from our favorite fast food brands. I personally love getting those buckets because I know I can reuse them even beyond the spooky season. Anyway, if I could pick just one Halloween bucket to get, I’d definitely go for the Timbits Trick-or-Treat Bucket. The size is just right and the discount for the refill is also a welcome treat. Also, I’ve never had a glow-in-the-dark bucket—definitely a must-have for spooky nights!
