If you can’t wait to hear about the good news, then read along as we’ve got all the things you can look forward to for the next few weeks. 🤩
The Comeback of The Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas

Your favorite Street Chalupas are back and better than ever. Chalupas are highly inspired by the vibrant culture of street tacos, and if you miss them, then better grab Taco Bell’s Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas! The Tex-Mex chain is reviving this fan-favorite menu item with its crispy new exterior and a craveable sauce.
This menu item is an ode to street food through its simple ingredients of onions and cilantro. The Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas even features a crispy toasted cheddar shell plus a new Chile Lime Crema Sauce.
One special feature of this new menu item is merging two fan-favorite menu creations from the past, which are the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa from 2019 and the Cheesy Street Chalupas from last year. If you’re from around Houston, Texas, then you probably know that Taco Bell tested the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas in the area back in August 2024. It was also one of the menu items revealed at the Live Más LIVE 2025 event earlier this month.
They’re now available nationwide for a price of $5.49 for a la carte starting today (March 27, 2025). But better hurry as they’re only available for a limited time until supplies last.
Luis Restrepo, Vice President of Taco Bell’s Product Innovation, recognized that street taco is a cultural staple, as it is made with quality ingredients. He said that the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas honor the tradition while bringing the unique touch that Taco Bell is known for. Restrepo also added that fans have been waiting for the comeback of 2019’s Toasted Cheddar Chalupa, and now, they’re upgrading it through a street-inspired flavor.
Flavor Profile
Let’s break down the features of the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas to know what to expect:
- Toasted Cheesy Shell – Featuring a chalupa shell with a layering of mild cheddar that is baked directly into the dough. It’s toasted to perfection for that crispy and cheesy feel in every bite.
- Premium Ingredients – Like what the traditional street chalupas stand for, this menu item is packed with premium ingredients like fresh onions and cilantro. It also comes with your choice of slow-roasted Cantina chicken or a grilled, marinated steak.
- Saucy Surprise – There’s a saucy surprise of a Chile Lime Crema Sauce that is made from chile peppers, garlic, parmesan, and Romano cheeses that are sealing all the flavors together.
Now, if you’re serving a whole party, then an ultimate feast of chalupas might be what you need. You can now grab a Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas Discovery Luxe Box that includes some fan-favorite menu items. Priced at $9.00, it gives you an opportunity to find a new favorite. But that’s not the only drop in fries we’re expecting as Taco Bell further upgrades them with Caliente Cantina Chicken Nacho Fries. But if you’re in the mood for a burrito, you can add in a Caliente Cantina Chicken Burrito that is rolled in a flat tortilla.

The Caliente Chicken Cantina features a slow-roasted and Mexican-seasoned chicken. It is topped off with a special Caliente sauce plus an Avocado Salsa Verde addition. We’re also expecting more Caliente Chicken Cantina drops soon, which are the following:

From The Club
I’m living for Taco Bell’s Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas, as it’s one of the menu items I was excited about when I saw it on Live Más LIVE 2025. I could just imagine the cheese-filled shells that match well with the Cantina Chicken or Steak. It’s a good thing that Taco Bell is also dropping the Nacho Fries and Nacho Cheese Sauce, as it makes the perfect pair with cheesy Chalupas. Besides, you can never have too much cheese!
