Attention: Important Breakfast Burrito Recall
Hey, friends! There’s some important news you need to know if you’ve recently bought breakfast burritos. Jen’s Breakfast Burritos, LLC, which is located in Auburn, WA, has put out a recall for about 144 pounds of their ready-to-eat breakfast burritos. The reason? They might have something called Listeria monocytogenes in them, which can make people very sick. This was found out by the experts at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service when they tested the burritos.
If you have some breakfast burritos in your fridge or freezer at home right now, you should check them. The breakfast burritos that are being recalled were all made on February 29, 2024. They come in 7-ounce wax paper packages and have these flavors:
- Smoked Bacon Breakfast Burrito: Look for a sticker on the back with the lot code 060-1.
- Ham Breakfast Burrito: There should be a sticker with the lot code 060-2.
- Seasoned Pork Breakfast Burrito: This one will have a sticker with the lot code 060-3.
You can also spot these burritos because they will have “EST. 1826” printed inside the mark that shows they have been checked by the USDA. These burritos were sent to various “to-go” kiosks around Washington.
So far, no one has reported getting sick from eating these burritos, which is great news! But if you have any of them, you should definitely not eat them. It’s better to throw them away or take them back to the place where you bought them and get your money back.
Why Listeria is a Big Deal
Now, I want to tell you a bit more about Listeria. Even if food has Listeria in it, it might not look bad or smell funny. But, it can still make you feel really unwell. If anyone does eat something with Listeria and starts to feel sick with things like vomiting, feeling sick to their stomach, a high fever that doesn’t go away, muscle pains, bad headaches, or a stiff neck, they should go to the doctor. Tell the doctor you might have eaten something with Listeria so they can help you the best way they can.
People who should be extra careful are pregnant women, older adults, little kids, and anyone who isn’t feeling their strongest (like if they have other sicknesses that make their bodies weaker). This is because Listeria can be really dangerous for them.
We hope you stay safe and healthy! And remember, it’s always good to keep an eye out for recalls and make sure the food you eat is safe.
