It isn’t very often when you hear ‘free food’ at a fast food restaurant. Normally we are trying to always hack the system, uncovering the fast food secrets, and pushing free food to the limits. Burger King is here to party, celebrate their birthday and they want to make it known this summer they are 70 years young.
For a business to be open for 70 years, it’s definitely something worth celebrating. And this week they have a great list of free items with some slight jabs at their fast food competitors.
Burger King Birthday Deals and Free Food
The fun starts on May 28th until June 3rd, you’ll get everything from free hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and of course, birthday pie! Before you dive in, there are two caveats to declare: 1. You have to sign up for Burger Kings App (it’s free), and each day you have to spend $0.70 or more first, then you redeem the free food. Before you throw your hands up in anger, to get $0.70 you can get something as simple as a 4pc nuggets at $1.99; crispy tacos are $1.79, 2 chocolate chip cookies are $1.19 but the real low price is DIPPING SAUCE! Each dipping sauce is $0.30 each (possibly cheaper where you live), so you can just order yourself three dipping sauces and stock up for later.

Enjoy a free Original Chicken Sandwich from Burger King with just $0.70+ purchase. The Original Chicken Sandwich is lightly breaded chicken topped with crisp lettuce and creamy mayonnaise on a sesame seed bun.
Monday June 3, 2024: Free Whopper Jr.
Finishing off the full week of free food, they bring you a free Whopper Jr. The Whopper Jr. is a flame-grilled beef patty with juicy tomatoes, crisp lettuce, creamy mayonnaise, ketchup, crunchy pickles, and sliced white onions on a toasted sesame seed bun.
I’m a little surprised and thought they would just go big with the Whopper, but beggars can’t be choosers! I’ll take a delicious flame grilled burger on Monday.

History of Burger King: 70 Years of Flame Grilling
The official date they opened for business was on June 1, 1954 by Keith J. Kramer and Matthew Burns out of Miami-Dade County, Florida. It was originally called Insta-Burger King but it ran into some financial difficulties and was bought out by two franchise owners in 1959 renamed it Burger King.

The story is pretty interesting and it just shows the rivalry still to this day. The Insta-Burger owners visited the McDonald brothers’ original store in California purchased the rights to two pieces of equipment called Insta-machines known as the ‘Insta-Broiler’ and then opened their first restaurants. It’s been history ever since.

From the Club
I know I keep saying this in my posts, but this is one heck of a summer for fast food. I think fast food restaurants got the hint that consumers are not going to pay an insane amount of money for fast food and each brand is going to win us back with better deals and discounts as they slowly roll out more inexpensive food options.
Burger King’s deals are pretty great. I’m more excited about the Friday cheeseburger and the Sunday sandwich. I wonder if Chick-fil-A is amused by the little friendly nudge?
