Enoki Mushrooms Recall Due to Health Risk

Hey friends, it’s important to share some essential safety news regarding a food recall. Kam Ding Investment Ltd. has made a recall of their K-Fresh brand Enoki Mushrooms because they might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a type of bacteria that can make people very sick.

This recall started when a customer told the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) about the problem. These mushrooms have been sold in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and maybe other areas of Canada. Here are the details of the recalled item:

  • Brand: K-Fresh
  • Product: Enoki Mushroom
  • Size: 200g
  • UPC: 4 892742 010234
  • Codes: SN: 240102

Up until now, no one has reported getting sick from these mushrooms. But it’s a good idea to throw them away or take them back to the store where you got them. It’s not safe to eat, cook, or serve the recalled mushrooms.

Understanding Listeria Infections

Even if food doesn’t look bad or smell funny, Listeria can still be hiding in it and cause really bad sickness. If you’ve eaten any of these mushrooms and don’t feel well, you should go to the doctor and let them know that you might have been around Listeria.

People should watch out for signs of infection for a while because it can take up to 70 days for symptoms to show up after being around Listeria. Some signs that you might have Listeria are throwing up, feeling really sick to your stomach, having a fever that doesn’t go away, muscles that hurt, a very bad headache, and stiff neck.

To know for sure if someone has Listeria, they need special tests because it often looks like other illnesses. It’s especially risky for pregnant women, old people, little kids, and anyone with a weaker body defense system like cancer patients. While pregnant women might only have a mild sickness that feels like the flu, the infection can harm the baby, cause very early birth or even stillbirth.

It’s super crucial to stay on top of food safety. Remember, it’s better to be careful and make sure what we eat is safe.

Take care and stay healthy!
