Taco Bell’s latest test items just might shake up the fast food industry forever.
Taco Bell is known for their creativity. Their willingness to experiment and try out new things is what pretty much set them apart from other popular fast food chains. They’ve spent a lot of time crafting recipes and meals that sound like they shouldn’t work on paper but then proceeds to blow us away. It’s that kind of creativity that leads to some of the greatest menu items of all time. Which is why when they test something out, you just know that it’s going to be awesome.

There’s a new menu item that Taco Bell is testing and it’s something we never thought we needed. Taco Bell is testing out Cheesy Dipping Burritos at select locations in Detroit, Michigan. This new menu item includes two burritos filled with seasoned beef and rice, paired with warm nacho cheese sauce for dipping. This whole trial from Taco Bell aims to bring a fresh new twist on the classic burrito experience by introducing a dipping aspect to enhance the flavor and just make the meal a little more engaging and interactive.
The Cheesy Dipping Burrito sounds like an amazing idea! It sounds like a basic concept but with Taco Bell’s unique and signature flavors, I bet this would be a runaway success. Customers in Detroit can look forward to trying these burritos for a limited time. Taco Bell is monitoring the feedback really closely to see if they should roll out the item nationwide. If you’re in the area, don’t miss you chance to be a part of Taco Bell’s latest culinary experiment.
While there’s still no word on if it will get another release beyond the testing period, we’ll definitely be on the lookout for any new announcements from Taco Bell. Stay tuned!
What’s New at Taco Bell?
There’s a LOT of new stuff over at Taco Bell released in the past few months. They started the year off with their Live MĆ”s Live event back in February which detailed all the new food they have coming for this year. So far, Taco Bell has definitely delivered. While there are tons of new stuff you could try, we’ll focus on their most recent releases. These are what’s new at Taco Bell right now.

Cheesy Street Chalupa
This is one of the most anticipated items from Taco Bell this summer. The Cheesy Street Chalupa features a cheesy crunchy taco shell with a blend of mozzarella and pepper jack cheese, your choice of meat, onion, cilantro, and jalapeƱos all smothered in ranch sauce. It’s a great mix of flavors and textures inspired by the iconic Mexican street food.

JalapeƱo Ranch Nacho Fries
Think Taco Bell’s regular Nacho Fries could use some heat? Then try this new take on the classic side dish. The JalapeƱo Ranch Nacho Fries are crisp fries seasoned with Mexican spices and tangy JalapeƱo Ranch sauce. The creamy ranch sauce is made up of buttermilk, sour cream, garlic, red jalapeƱo, pasilla peppers, parsley, and spices. It is served with a choice of seasoned beef or black beans. Definitely a welcome addition to Taco Bell’s long list of delicious menu items this summer.
Both of these items are new and available at all Taco Bell locations. However, they’re both limited time items so you better grab them while they’re available.

Best Discontinued Taco Bell Menu Items
The Cheesy Dipping Burritos could be a fantastic addition to Taco Bell’s menu. We really hope that it does well at its testing market and would eventually see a nationwide rollout. If it doesn’t, it will surely go down as one of the best discontinued Taco Bell items. Like these ones.

Meximelt
There’s no doubt that the Meximelt is the greatest discontinued item from Taco Bell’s menu. It’s been a mainstay for over 30 years before being discontinued in 2019. The Meximelt as a flour tortilla filled with ground beef, pico de Gallo, and the three-cheese blend, designed as a cross between a soft taco and a quesadilla. A quick trip into the steamer produced melty, beefy perfection. Fans tried to start a petition to bring it back to no avail. However, if you know how, you can still hack your way through Taco Bell’s menu and create the Meximelt on your own terms.

The Bell Beefer
Now here’s a blast from the past. While we all know that Taco Bell these days is known for thinking outside the bun, they actually featured their own take on a hamburger back in the 90s. The Bell Beefer was essentially a Sloppy Joe with ground taco beef being its main meat ingredient along with some lettuce, diced onion, and shredded cheese. It’s not as iconic as some of their other discontinued items, but it’s definitely worth a mention.

From The Club
Man, what I would do to be in Detroit right now. Cheesy Dipping Burritos sound fantastic. It’s an item that I never thought I wanted until Taco Bell started playing around with it. Burritos usually come with sauce anyway but the idea of dipping it in cheese just sounds pretty good. I hope this item does well in the testing phase so we could get a wide release sometime in the future.
