These new candies from Mondelez International will be in stores over the next few months. We’ll keep you posted with updates as they continue to be rolled out and reach retailers. So which ones would you try? We’re excited for the new Snapple-flavored Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish candies!
A Look Back at Candy Favorites
Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish are two of the most recognizable soft, chewy candies in the market. They have had a long, exciting history that actually goes back decades. Let’s start with the Sour Patch Kids. Everyone’s favorite sour candies originally debuted in the late 70s under the name “Mars Men” which came to be because of that eras fascination with science fiction. It wasn’t until the mid 80s when they rebranded the products to the Sour Patch Kids we know and love today. They were partially inspired by another 80s craze which was the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls.

Their unique blend of sour and sweet flavors captured the hearts of everyone who enjoyed the candy. Cadbury Adams, which is now a part of Mondelez International, is the genius behind this popular treat. The brand introduced tons of new flavors over the years and each one of them easily became a hit among fans.
Next up is Swedish Fish. This fish shaped soft candy has had an equally rich history. In fact, they’ve been around longer than Sour Patch Kids. Swedish Fish was created by Swedish candy producer Malaco in the 1950s. These chewy candies eventually became a household name in North American candy aisles after Malaco teamed up with Cadbury Adams. Unlike the other gummy candies, Swedish Fish are easily identified by their distinct fruity flavor.
These brands both share a long history of innovation and adaptation, always keeping their fans eagerly waiting for the next exciting release.
