In one small Lackawanna County borough, nobody orders a slice. You order a tray, and you count it in cuts.
Old Forge style pizza is a rectangular pie with a light, crisp crust, a tangy sauce, and red and white versions that locals debate like a sport. The town even calls itself the Pizza Capital of the World, and a short walk down Main Street explains why.
This list covers seven spots where the squares arrive by the tray, from a pizzeria running since 1967 to a Scranton shopping center favorite. Each one has its own angle, whether that is a double crust white, a Monday opening, or a cozy dinner-only kitchen.
If you are planning a road trip through northeastern Pennsylvania, or just want to settle a family argument about red versus white, keep this list handy and share it with the person who always grabs the corner cut.
1. Arcaro and Genell, Old Forge, PA

Plenty of first-timers get their introduction to Old Forge pizza at 443 S Main St, and the menu makes that easy. The Tray Red Thin Crust is the order to know, with a light crust and a tangy sauce that defines the local style.
Arcaro and Genell is family-owned and casual, with counter service and both red and white varieties on the board. Beyond pizza, the Porketta Hoagie and Steak and Cheese Hoagie give non-pizza people something to hold.
Save room for dessert. Tiramisu and cannoli round out the meal, and the kitchen moves fast when the line builds.
Friday afternoon into evening is the rush, while Wednesday morning is the calm window. Reservations are not accepted, but takeout, delivery, and catering are all options.
Hours run Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 8 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 6 PM. Parking is usually plentiful, and kids get their own menu and high chairs.
2. Revello’s Pizza Cafe, Old Forge, PA

Since 1967, the Revello family has been turning out trays on Main Street, which makes this one of the longest-running names in town. Pizzas, pastas, and sandwiches are made from scratch.
The crust here leans light and fluffy with a crisp bottom. Sharing a tray of cuts around the table is the whole point, and the dining room is set up for groups and families.
Revello’s also works as a place to catch a game, with sports on and live music on the schedule at times. The atmosphere is casual with a historic character that fits a longtime landmark.
One practical note matters. Monday service starts at 4:30 PM, while Tuesday through Sunday opens at 11:30 AM, with Friday and Saturday running until 11 PM.
Reservations are accepted, which helps on busy Friday nights. Takeout and delivery are available too.
3. Salerno’s Cafe, Old Forge, PA

Monday cravings are a real problem in pizza country, since many shops around Old Forge and Scranton close that day. Salerno’s Cafe opens Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM, which solves it nicely.
You will find it on Moosic Rd rather than Main Street, a small detour that pays off. The specialty is red and white pizza in the Old Forge style, with a light and airy crust.
White pizza fans should look for the stuffed white, a favorite here. Pasta dinners get equal attention, including ravioli, meatballs, sausage, and chicken parmesan.
The dining room is clean, quiet, and cozy with table service. Delivery is not offered, so plan on dining in or picking up.
Sunday is the day off.
4. Augustine’s Club 17, Old Forge, PA

Head to the north end of Main Street if white pizza is your side of the debate. Augustine’s Club 17 is known for a crispy, crunchy white pie with a balanced amount of cheese.
Ask for extra sauce, a move many regulars make. The round white pizza has its own following, and the red holds its own as well.
This long-standing Italian restaurant keeps things informal. The menu stretches to salads, fries, desserts, and gluten-free options, plus full vegan and vegetarian menus, which is rare in this town.
Timing takes some planning. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11 AM to 8 PM, Friday 11 AM to 10 PM, and Saturday 3 to 9 PM, with Sunday and Monday closed.
Curbside pickup, delivery, reservations, and free Wi-Fi are all available.
5. Cafe Rinaldi, Old Forge, PA

Book ahead. Cafe Rinaldi is a dinner-only spot open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 PM, and reservations are recommended.
The kitchen is intimate and family-run, focused on hearty Italian staples like housemade pasta and risotto. Chicken Marsala and manicotti sit alongside trays of Old Forge style pizza.
A tray split half with meatballs is a smart way to try toppings without committing. Chicken and cheese risotto balls make a good starter.
Expect a slightly higher check than a counter shop, with a range of about $20 to $50 per person. Portions are large, and the room has an old-school, cozy style.
I would save this one for a sit-down night when pizza is only part of the plan. Takeout works too.
6. Anthony’s, Old Forge, PA

Two crusts, two moods. Anthony’s offers both a thin red Old Forge pie and a double crust white, often filled with spinach or broccoli.
The red with crumbled sausage and pepperoni is a popular combination. The sauce and cheeses get plenty of attention here.
Seafood sets this menu apart from the rest of Main Street. Steamed clams, baked clams oreganata, and a crabcake share space with homemade manicotti in vodka cream and a large antipasto.
Doors open at 4 PM Wednesday through Sunday, with later hours on Friday and Saturday. Saturday evening is busiest, so reserve a table.
7. Alfredo’s Pizza, Scranton, PA

A few miles up the road in Scranton, the South Side Shopping Center hides a big pizza menu. Alfredo’s sits at 1040 S Washington Ave with ample seating and easy parking.
Old Forge red and white cuts are on the menu, along with a Square Pizza, a thin round, and a double crust white. The Award Winning Thick Pan Pizza uses cheddar, a regional twist worth trying once.
Bruschetta pizza, stromboli, and mozzarella sticks fill out the table. Toppings are generous and prices stay reasonable, around $10 to $20 per person.
Alfredo’s is open seven days, starting at 11 AM, with Friday and Saturday service until 10 PM. That makes it the easiest stop on this list for a spur-of-the-moment tray.
